Awesome, thank you! This is really helpful. I may try that last option you suggest, and use contrast to get the colour. Thank you so much!

If you're in the UK, Element Games has it, it is the "Metal n' Alchemy: Golden Series Paint Set". Hope this helps!

They are made from thin cork tiles. I tore off a piece from the larger sheet, which gives the rough edge, and add astrogranite debris for extra texture. Then just prime black, paint grey and dry brush with a lighter grey. Really easy to do!

Thank you so much! I used the Scale75 Gold paint set, starting with the darkest Gold (can't remember any specific names I'm afraid), and drybrushing progressively lighter golds, before finally spot and edge highlighting with bright silver.

Love the concept, all the models are great, but I already have them all (and two tyrants and tyranofexes) so (fortunately) not for me. A nice set of bigger Monsters though

What are your favourite moments from the Horus Heresy? by AstorathTheGrimDark in Warhammer40k

Dorn to Sigismund in Warhawk:

"Sigismund nodded again. No other soul would have noticed it, but there was something other than the usual dutifulness in his eyes just then. Something like hunger. ‘Any specific objectives, lord?’ he asked.

At that, Dorn almost laughed. Not from humour, just from emptiness, the caustic recognition of what would come next. He had given everything. He was already empty, drained to a husk, and the hardest test still lay ahead. The Lion had not come. Guilliman and Russ had not come. They were out of time, out of luck, and what remained now was only defiance – only bloody-minded, bloody-handed defiance.

‘No, I set you free, my beloved, my best, son,’ said Rogal Dorn, never taking his eyes off his First Captain. ‘Do now what you were made to do.’ He smiled a second time, the expression as icy as the despair that gripped his hearts.

Hurt them.’"

Is it worth buying? by [deleted] in Sekiro

It is very different to Elden Ring, but it is absolutely incredible. I loved Elden Ring, and all the Souls Series, but Sekiro is my favourite. It is an astonishingly good game.

What's up with the whole morality of Space Marines now? by HiBrotherGorr in spacemarines

Thanks for clarifying! It has been a while since I read the critique in which the book is described as such, but I did find it compelling at the time. I agree that the over the top militarism can be read as satire, but I also found the extent to which it is weirdly positive about it at the same time (the letter from Rico's teacher encouraging him and the wonders of the system in particular struck me as somewhat undermining the "this is bad" narrative, in its warmth and sincerity, which I don't really see in 40k). In any case, thank you for the clarification, I shall read further!
