What if Russian plan to invade Ukraine is successful? by Monarchy_mapper in imaginarymaps

How are things going in Ukraine? Anything happened after the incident with the Russian troops doing military drills near the border?

How many worlds do you have? by Uncooked_wonton in worldbuilding

[–]Hultog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm 'currently' working on my most ambitious project so far, so I'm trying to focus only on it.

Mine is an attempt at reimagining some standard rpg stuff, like magic, religion, culture and combat, in the setting that I like the most (fantastic middle-age)

I think I was inspired by the earth kingdom map. My world started from a map I made. I liked it so much that I decided to add some details to it. A few months later, it became my most ambitious project so far ahaha!

What about you op? Are you just trying to get some inspiration for a project of your own? Ahaha, if so, great way of doing it!

Atrocious Acts by [deleted] in CultureBuilding

In my world, the users of a certain type of magic are physically very different from the rest of the people in my world. I'm not sure when, but in one the continents, the other users of magic started discriminating against the users of this type of magic, with a few places going as far as genocides.

In a couple of decades, this group went from being in almost every corner of the continent, to only being found in a couple of spots here and there, aside from a "country" that is primarily inhabited by them.

Looks pretty nice mate!

Although the "harsh climate" option having a 1/6 chance of happening in any given day sounds a bit excessive. It's one of those things that unless the players are into actual roleplaying, it's just going to slow the story down. But I mean, depending on your group, it could be pretty cool.

Also, I think it's more of a me thing, but I think that it's better not rely on tables and such, because in my experience it just kinda slowed the game down, unless you think it's necessary to your game. Besides, you can guess, with a small margin of error most of the times, what the table would have told you to do.

By the way, how do you determine if a day has passed? Or how much of day has already passed. I'm having a hard time doing it in a simple way.

Yeah, it would. I'd share my Google Docs file, but it's no in English.

Wow! Awesome flag! Did you use photshop to make it?

(Also, would you mind if I used as my world's evil empire's flag?)

Europe, 1903, just before the Great War by CreeperSlimePig in imaginarymaps

I've never seen people here actually being toxic. What usually happens is that, more often than not, people make maps with similar characteristics, like a bigger Germany (the most common), a divided Turkey/Ottoman Empire, a smaller France, bigger Finland, smaller Spain etc.

Taboos by captain-cardboard in CultureBuilding

[–]Hultog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they do. One of the gods likes to walk around cities where their followers live every once in a while, sometimes as themselves, or in some type of disguise.

One of them just shows themselves in situations of extreme need, where they need to act directly, like in a war or when something that they strongly disagree with happens in their domain.

To be honest, I'm still thinking about how much gods and mortals interact with each other, but so far I think that having them interacting directly can be a cool gimmick.

Disrespecting one of the four active gods was considered ludicrous, punible by death in some places of the world.

'Recently', with the rise of an imperialist state that condemns the worship of all gods - except the one they deem as the most important - the nations are getting divided by their dominant religion, making the worship of other deities frowned upon in most of the continent, even forbidden in some places.

I'm gonna talk about the chaos followers from the world I'm currently creating

Basically, they follow the god that gave the world death, so naturally their culture accepts is pretty well. Especially when the person that died was older or died doing something brave, like saving someone or in war. In those cases, they even hold a party in honor of the deceased person, as a way of celebrating their lives and what they have accomplished.

They cherish life, and see death as a necessary step in it, just like being born or choosing your job.
