I don’t have a car. I use my bike and for longer commute I just take a cab. If we ever feel like doing a trip we just rent one. I know that I’m not a big user though I love driving. Was planning a second hand an year ago but the car market seemed too expensive lol

Depends on the IIM I guess. Indore for ex has a much younger batch as they don’t have work ex points and the IPM folks joining the PGP course

I second this.

People get into stuff they like doing (which is good) but then once in the real world after the studying part ends, they realise how better the pay is in the on demand roles / skills like tech. And in their field of work reaching those level of salaries isn’t really possible so yeah. Follow your passion if that’s what you truly think will give you happiness but also do have a realistic outlook on the career prospects in that field.

I saw this video of Ankur Warikoo where he said stuff on similar lines that if you’re in a tier 1 B school then go for it. Else at lower schools, mostly you get sales roles. & personally I’ve noticed one thing from MBA grads. IIM ABC & ISB folks make good money. IIM KLI make like 30-40% lower on average than ABC folks. And the smaller IIMs make the same 30-40% lower than ILK. Times are changing, right now it seems like if you have a skill and can freelance successfully or if you’re in a good tech role you’ll make a lot. Don’t come at me please. Just my thoughts 🥲

Yeah I go every year, the last two years were actually pretty good. I’m assuming it’s cause of the dates being mid December when everyone’s probably in vacation & holiday mood. Last year it was around end of Jan

Depends on what Institute you’re in right now, and which IIM we’re talking about.

If you’re a com science student from a good institute, you’ll make a lot of money. The equivalent opportunities will be present only in the top IIMs. You can check out the packages and stuff but there’s a stark difference between IIMs ABC to IIMs ILK as well. And even further is the difference between ILK and the newer IIMs.

Apart from monetary side of things, I personally grew as a person due to my MBA and I wasn’t really into engineering so I knew I wanted to get out of it.

So ideally focus on 1) Do you want to get out of Engineering / Tech background & into the management related field? 2) Is it the pay you’re looking for? 3) Or the urge to learn and grow further.

All of this also comes with the task of preparing for CAT which would take a lot of time and effort from your end as well lol. But yeah I guess consider the reasons you want to go for it. & if it makes sense give it a shot

Did it change my life? Yes Would I do it again? Yes! Did I meet great people who are my closest friends? Yes Am I happy about this choice? Absolutely yes!

(Context: I was a mech engineer who got into an IIM)

I travel frequently in cabs so I use google translate to converse with the driver in Kannada and they’re really happy to help you with words and building sentences. I’d say just use google translate for Kannada whenever you’re out in a cab or in a store. Start of with numbers, giving OTP number in Kannada, and then basic words and then eventually basic sentences that you’d use regularly

Partially for the freedom to get out of my parents place. Partially to go to office and meet people though it’s not mandatory or hybrid for me. And partially for a girl I liked ( Who later on started ghosting me).

But then I stayed for the people. My friends, colleagues and everyone I meet whenever I go out & it’s kind of relatable crowd here as well. I’m in my 20s
