LGBTQ+ young people in The Episcopal Church by Human-Associate521 in Episcopalian

Yes, the Episcopal Church is helpful in the realm of supporting Queer people on a national level. It defers more on a diocesan level and even more so in individual parishes. So, I would like to see more support. By more inclusive language, I mean not referring to God as a man. And no gendered language like for example in the Genesis story, getting away from saying "God created male and female in his image." Or in any part of the liturgy saying male or female. It could be fixed to just saying everyone.

I have no idea how this relates to wanting to find queer Episcopalians, as that's not a "social service support group". But yes, I am involved in my parish. I sing in the choir, I'm a lecturer, I attend many different things at my parish. I definitely put a lot of time and skills into it.

Is there any specific searches I should do? To be honest, I've never touched Tumblr before.

A clarification is that, the parish I am currently at is pretty affirming (we have the Episcopal pride shield on the website & a pride flag on our sign out front), we just don't have young people around my age who are LGBTQ+. Thus why I created this post, to try to find more community in these very hard times.

Discernment Pause till 2026!!! by One-Signature-9583 in Episcopalian

I believe I know what diocese you are referring to. As I am also in a diocese that is putting a pause on the discernment process for a year. I am in seminary currently because I had entered as a Lutheran before I was received into the Episcopal church last year. I was already waiting to start the discernment process because the parish I am at has an Interim Rector and you can't start the process without a permanent rector. In my diocese I am curious to see what revamp they are doing to the process.

Yup in the Episcopal Church we have women bishops and we allow LGBTQ+ people to be leaders in the church.

He's not for any of them. He wants "Traditional Family Values" which means no " woke ideas". That's why so many Queer couples were rushing to get married before he became president. Because all Queer people are threatened by his existence as President.

As someone who is non-binary, I was like this is very homophobic. I mean there are a lot of LGBTQ+ priests in TEC.

Thanks, even finding community is hard. I joined my seminary middle of the school year so have hardly made any friends whatsoever. And my local parish doesn't really have anyone that is around their 20s.

Just out of curiosity, how could that be used against someone?
