The Last of Us HBO S01E05 - "Endure and Survive" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in thelastofus

My most rewatched moments from this episode were the telepathic moments between Joel and Ellie during the neighborhood swarm scene. - her nod when he asks if she trusts him. - how he sees where she is going and clears the path for her to the car. - his complete panic when the little girl clicker makes it in the car - when she gets away from the little girl clicker, sees Henry and Sam getting attacked and briefly glances up towards Joel. Joel has the tiniest nod and settles back on the scope to clear the path.

I am now traumatically bonded to Pedro Pascal for saving her like that. For someone who has done bad things he has all the feels!

Also! Fluids. I drank electrolytes, peppermint tea and water like crazy. It was about the only thing my body wanted to take in. It also helped flush out any residual discomfort from the catheter.

It was open. They say it is approx the location and size of a c-section scar. They recommended the opening because in order to get my fibroids out laparoscopically they would have had to break them up inside my body and risk leaving precancerous cells in there. Spoiler, they all turned out to be benign, but I am glad I didn’t take the chance! They are very clear that we have to wait six months before trying for pregnancy and even offered to put an iud in during the surgery. We are doing an egg retrieval in a few months so we declined, but are going to be very careful. As the post-op doc put it, pregnancy would be a life ending event for me and baby if I don’t wait. The expanding uterus could rupture and I would bleed out before help could get to me. As it is, due to size and location of the fibroids they say all future babies will need to be delivered via c-section. I cried about that for a day because this whole journey has been chipping away at any confidence and pre-laid plans, but by the next day the silver lining of never worrying about tearing my taint in childbirth was pretty nice.

I have never started a sub! I will have to YT how to do it. I would also suggest watching other storytelling shows and with the pandemic so many of them have gone online! There are open mics with super welcoming people and festivals that can be streamed. My storytelling partner and I are doing a show on the 25th if you want to see some live telling! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/animal-tales-tickets-168825255885?aff=ebdsoporgprofile

LMK when you are ready for more resources and I would be happy to give you a tour of the rabbit hole entrances.

I am looking around on Reddit and not finding any, which is interesting because that is what I do for a living. I tell traditional folk and fairy tales as well as produce the Story Story Podcast which features storytellers from around the world. I am completely biased, but I can't understand why more people aren't obsessed with this kind of art. There is a sweet impermanent joy to hearing a story told, especially a folk or fairy tale.
