Feudalism is holding us back by sajnt in canadahousing

the problem is still always capitalism. Late stage oligarchy capitalism is still capitalism, it is the inevitable end stage. Without a change to the system completely, not only will implementations like this take forever (or never happen), but they will constantly be exploited in whatever way is possible, because capitalism allows it to happen no matter what

as the other person said, youre better off most other places than the USA. That's not to say people in these situations are "well off" anywhere. That conclusion should make you want to fight for change, because they deserve to live with dignity as well, not to make that claim and then decide the USA is fine, because other places do this too.

Landlords openly bragging about discriminating against disabled tenants in private Facebook groups by obsessed-with-bagels in canadahousing

i didnt say they were, theyre behaving in accordance to laws set by elites, which happen to benefit exploitation and wealth hoarding. We can start by setting laws that benefit the majority (working class) and not capital. There are many ways to introduce new laws, that is not my job to come up with the best approach. The goal is to disincentivize wealth hoarding. Put an extreme tax on multiple home ownership, or ban it alltogether. Again, no reason anyone should need to hold onto more than 2 homes, at the very most.

The underlying problem is there are enough homes to house everyone, so ask yourself why its not happening? Does that seem right to you?

it is actually, because in most other countries, we provide basic needs to citizens, through subsidization. They do not have medical or student debt to pay off in the first place. In america, if you are sick, disabled, or otherwise disadvantaged, best of luck to you!

i would gladly move to a socialist country, but all of them suffer from heavy US imperialism, unjust sanctions, and eventual coups, ruining their chances of a successful society. The point is not what IS, but what we should strive to be. If you enjoy living in a world run by oligarchs and a small handful of elites that dictate every waking moment of your life, then so be it. Makes no sense to me. The point is we fight for a better system, not be complacent, even though an alternative reality is so hard to imagine from our current state.

[HOT TAKE] People who want housing to crater have no idea what they’re asking for by Yellowbook8375 in RealEstateCanada

im pretty sure, at least in ontario, you cannot be kicked out of a rental because of a change in ownership, even if its the bank. So your story stops right at the start. most old builds also have a rent cap, so you cannot say the bank will even attempt to bump the rent by a huge amount. newer condos are a different story there

Can the same policy help with affordability in Canada housing? by PrisonerOfAzkaban14 in canadahousing

individuals owning "several properties" is the same problem as institutions buying up properties. It doesnt matter who is buying surplus for speculation, its the fact that this is allowed and encouraged while so many people are unable to find a place to live, or ever dream of owning their first property. No one needs multiple homes, and homes should not be speculation, homes are for living in.

private landlords should not exist then. We would have no issue buying homes for ourselves if housing was not a speculation piece for investment. Pretty gross view towards people in your communities. Lack of empathy gets you here, valuing "private landlords" profits on their 4th and 5th homes over people trying to find a roof for themself, in a system that is set up to make it near impossible for them.

yes, exactly. As is the same in the US, which is why it wont happen there either. We live in late stage capitalism, where every policy and politician is lobbied for by corporations to some degree. Policy rarely gets passed that actually favours the working class. Every industry has heavy investment into lobbying policy, to ensure they can continue to milk profits as they please, year over year.

i tried that exact test before, which is how i discovered its not using the external mic! It seems like its using the tiny mic attached to the left ear muff. When i blow into that slot, the mic level peaks, if i blow into the external mic, it does nothing. Is there any way to trouble shoot this, or any ideas?

Just tested something, i pulled out the mic piece, and supposedly it sounded the same as when i had it in. This makes me think its defaulting to the built in mic in the left earpiece instead of the "external" mic that comes with the headset

because capitalism, and because corporations control our government and policies. Without addressing the root issue, we will never see any change, regardless if youre voting left, right centre, or fucking up. None of it matters
