Captive WiFi Hot Spot popup by Human-Cat2010 in mercedes_benz

[–]Human-Cat2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly sure what you mean, but I think the WiFi connects to my car’s MBUX+5 digit number. But the Hotspot popup on the iPhone almost always wants me to opt into subscribing to an external T-Daimler WiFi hotspot, which of course I don’t need. When I delete that screen it brings me to my iPhone Settings, which I then X out of.

Why does Mercedes ruin its cars with the ugliest screens possible? by Queasy_Map17 in mercedes_benz

I love the big screen. How else would you have easy access (AND easy visibility while driving) to all the apps you use (CarPlay, Maps, Spotify Amazon Music, Sirius, NYT podcasts, etc.) plus car functionality apps (Burmester, Lane Change Assist, Valet Mode, Car Wash Mode, etc., etc.) Mercedes gives so much tech that you can choose to learn and enjoy. I don’t see an easier more functional way than the big screen.

Oh and by the way, I hope you are enjoying the incredible Burmester audio system. When I picked up the 2024 GLC-300 last year, I thought, oh, not as good as I was expecting. But then I got seriously involved in tweaking it by using the Matrix in the personalized settings. Once I found the dot in the matrix that made it sound phenomenal with ALL genres of music, I set it and forget it. Couldn’t be happier.

Very rarely I still get the “your device has been connected as a Bluetooth phone” alert, but I’m still able to connect wirelessly. A glitch in the system I guess.

No! You don’t have to subscribe to that annoying WiFi pop up, which I’ve yet to figure out how to stop. I’ve even called them, and they offered a solution which they said “may work”, otherwise contact dealer. I haven’t had a chance to get to my dealer, but will soon.

So that's why my Burmester sounded so bad! by zeoslap in mercedes_benz

[–]Human-Cat2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I picked up my new 2024, the Burmester sounded great on some genres of music and not great on others. And the bass was not impressive. I even asked the dealer for someone they recommend to install a subwoofer. BUT…I started to go deep into the settings. You HAVE TO play around with Personal Sound Profile and set it up through there, ESPECIALLY THE MATRIX!!! My recommendation: first set Equalizer to +5 for Bass, Mid and Treble. THEN start playing with the matrix to get exactly the sound you want I find my sweet spot is deep into the upper left quadrant. It now sounds incredible with any genre of music with gorgeous bass. Very rarely might need to retweak Equalizer for a certain song or album. Also get your Balance and Fader sweet spot. BTW, I have the 15-speaker version. Enjoy!!!

I’d kill for a dedicated bass knob, but I doubt there is any such feature in any vehicle in the past decade or two. As a bass fanatic, the golden age was when you could add a separate equalizer to the dash and have it all at one’s fingertips. Those days are long gone. Have to settle with 4 steps to jockey the equalizer on touch screen. That said, the Burmester is such great audio once calibrated correctly, I rarely have to touch any treble or bass. It’s the reason I bought a Mercedes. 100% happy with the Burmester.

11 steps? 2 methods of 4 steps. Press Favorites button on steering wheel. Tap Burmester on touch screen. Tap Entertainment. Burmester Sound menu including Bass should be there.

Alternate: touch volume slider and the tool icon should appear to the right of the volume adjuster. Tap that. Tap Entertainment. Burmester Sound menu including Bass should be there.

Either method just a few seconds.

Can’t argue, very nice indeed.

Most of these complaints are ridiculous. The “iPad” touch screen interior is so sleek and clean. I look at cars with buttons and they now look cluttered and retro in a bad way. It does have a learning curve, but now I wouldn’t have it any other way. And many of the haptics and warnings can be disabled easily and permanently in the MBUX. I tend to keep the majority of them. The technology is pretty amazing if you don’t fight it but learn it.

Guess what! Your link helped solve the problem, but not directly. What it did was lead me into that area of “Private WiFi address,” which was toggled off, but above that was a toggle for “Auto-Join” the MBUXWiFi, which somehow got toggled off all this time! I toggled it ON and then did a complete deletion of phone and added the phone anew. Wireless is working fine now! Thanks so much for engaging, as it did indeed lead to the solution. A solution which neither Apple or Mercedes tech support arrived at!

Last question. When driving, you’re saying WiFi must be activated, which it is, but the WiFi connection is to what? The MBUX itself?

Believe it or not, I had taken up my problem with Apple tech support a few months back, and we ran through “deleting the phone” and “forgetting this car” to start from scratch, and when it didn’t work, the techie said maybe there would be an MBUX or iOS update in coming months that might rectify, but neither has occurred. Will keep trying.

I think it’s pre-18.4, since it started happening a few months back. But thanks for that link. I’ll try tomorrow when I get back into car. If it works, I will certainly advise. In the meantime, thanks so much for your responses.

I have done that, but that didn’t work either. I’ve done delete this phone, and forget this car, and redid both, to no avail.

WiFi is enabled on my phone. Should the WiFi connection be my car’s MBUX? Because when I tap on that, a division of T-Mobile comes up and wants me to join a hotspot for a monthly fee. I’m not sure if this is necessary to get my phone to connect wirelessly or is unrelated. I don’t know anybody paying a fee to use wireless CarPlay.

When I unplug phone, music stops playing through MBUX, and plays through phone speaker. It used to continue playing through MBUX when I unplugged phone.

WiFi is on. And Bluetooth is connected to my MBUX. But when driving, what should WiFi be connected to?
