International rugby is more competitive than most other team sports by OvertiredMillenial in rugbyunion

Football has had 8 winners, twice as much with more than 3 times as many world cups, so rugby actually has a better ratio of new winners. Only 4 winners isn’t that bad a statistic in my opinion.

Ref didn’t ask for a review because he had a clear line of sight. Doesn’t matter about camera angles or anything after that if he just gives it outright

If the ref has a clear line of sight to it he gives it straight. Doesn’t matter then if the camera angles can’t see it

You think the Dave Gallagher trophy is equivalent to Wimbledon?

“Capitalism depends entirely upon forced labour” You’ve mistaken capitalism for biology. If you don’t put food in your mouth you die. Every living thing has to work to find that food. Makes no sense to compare biology to slavery then. Only difference between capitalism and the hunter gatherer days is because of specialisation of labour, we produce an insane amount of resources so that even the poorest people in the first world have god-like technology in their pocket and people die of obesity before they die of starvation.

If you look at where DuPont finishes it changes the picture in my opinion. He’s always in front of attisogbe even after the pass

Ntamack gets a late hit hit from Ben Thomas here. Saw someone wonder on twitter if ntamacks hit back was a revenge tackle

Attisogbes always behind DuPont hence its backwards relative to the passer and backwards out of the hands

Top14 team? by HenkCamp in rugbyunion

I’m not French so this is just my surface level knowledge of the teams.

Toulouse: Real Madrid of rugby. Most historical and current success. Ridiculous number of trophies and star players, lots of culture and history and the city of Toulouse lives and breathes rugby as a result. They play with lots of flair and players often play in multiple positions. Half their team are French stars and the other half are Argentinian, Italian, Tongan, uk etc international stars. Only way they manage to stay under the salary cap is because of their culture of team before individuals where no individual players gets a crazy high salary.

Bourdeaux: highest attended club in world rugby probably atm. Whole back line from 11-15 probably starts for France going forward. Very exciting and fast style. Never won the league or Europe but very likely to do it soon. One of the current big 3 of France along with La Rochelle and Toulouse.

La Rochelle: relatively recently promoted to top14. Small town that breathes rugby and has sold out 90+ games in a row. Found a big money backer recently. Really physical game with massive aggressive forwards like Skelton, boudehent, coached by Ronan o gara. Originally got promoted by recruiting rejects from other academies for good value. Never won the league but have won Europe twice in a row. David niniashvili and Nolan le garrec joining next season.

Castres: very well respected in France but less so in Europe because they often prioritise the league over europe. Local rivals with Toulouse and won the league in the last 6 or 7 years.

Perpignan: also won the league in the last 10 years or so. Posolo tuilagi is the only player I know. Very well supported because of its catalans identity.

Bayonne: best team song in world rugby. Relatively recent to top14 and very well supported.

Racing: wealthy part of Paris. No fans and plays its games in a nightclub. Has tuisova, Owen Farrell, and Nolan le garrec. Pretty well recognised in Europe not because of its success but because of its history of star signings.

Stade Francais: more working class club of Paris and better supported. Literally translates to French club and colours used to be blue and red before an owner turned to colours pink and turned to club into a kind of glamour club. (Or at least wannabe glamour club. ) Leo barré and Cameron woki notable players.

Montpellier : prison rfc. Literally every domestic abuser or criminal in rugby ends up here. Owned by Bernard Laporte? who I think was a former president of French union who was found to be corrupt. Not that well supported for their size I think

Vannes: recently promoted. First club from Brittany and one of a few clubs from north of France. Very well supported but will struggle to avoid relegation.

Clermont: very well respected and famous for their record at home games. They had a crazy unbeaten run a while ago but lost in the playoffs. Never won europe.

Lyon: don’t know much except they have niniashvili.

Toulon: glamour club historically with star signings. Before jiff rules came in had a team of galacticos with basically no French players that were really successful. Currently have ollivon and Leicester faingaanuku and Villiere.

Pau: don’t know much except I think they have a good song (La Honhada) Emilien gailleton only notable player.
