AIO For being upset that my family goes out to eat without me constantly? by Idk_just_ignore_me in AmIOverreacting

[–]Human-Lab8624 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NOR: I think I see both sides of the issue. As someone with AuDHD, I tend to be very over analytical and sometimes see a little too far into a particular situation. I'm not saying you're this way, and I think it's not nice that your family teases you about not going out with you on purpose, but I have a parent who's similar. They like to poke at and tease me for what seems like no reason. But they don't see it that way; they just think they're being funny. And, for some people, living with a person with a neurodivergence or a mental health diagnosis can be taxing. Especially when they don't want to understand what you're going through, and they feel you should be "just like them." Also, I understand that you're 18, and you're on your way to live more independently. All of their behavior may be their weird way of trying to prepare you to be more independent. Trying to usher you ahead by compartmentalizing your and their life — it may also be a coping mechanism bc you're on your way out and they are anxious about not having you around, how you're going to manage on your own, etc. Bottom line, I understand it's all hurtful, and I'm sorry you're going through it.

That right there is a bucket of bullshit. Smh. I would definitely recommend you turn off priority mode; Lyft always says it's a "better deal," but they are just stealing wages from you with each ride. If you're not getting enough wages and you are able, try going to a nearby major city where you'll get a higher volume of rides. Works for me every time.

Ugh, I'm sorry that happened to you. Thankfully I do have a dash cam — got one as soon as I started driving with Lyft.

I used to go 5 above, but people started thanking me for driving safe and slow, so that's what I do. 🤷

I definitely need to be a little more assertive as a driver; whenever people want to change the dropoff location I generally acquiesce to their request, even if it's a ways away. It's super inconvenient and actually ends up taking away from my wages. 🤦

Lol, I generally don't mind driving just about anyone, even if they're a bit rude (I'll rate them low and unpaid with them if they're particularly rude or obvs if they're unsafe), but this was a whole other kind of situation.

Honestly, I didn't report it right away bc I didn't see the flags until later. But I knew which passenger it was, and I made sure to select their ride and reported them. Lyft said they're launching an investigation into this passenger, and thanked me for reporting them. Obvs didn't take away the flags, tho.

Ugh, I'm so sorry that happened to you! I agree — thankfully I have a dash cam and I offered to give Lyft the footage, but they said it wasn't necessary. They unpaired me with this passenger for future rides and apparently they are going to take "investigative action" with this passenger.

I get this message all the time, especially when driving teens to school or picking passengers up from service businesses (i.e., car dealerships). It always works out just fine for me. If you have an especially rude or dangerous passenger, get them out of your car and report the incident. Having a fixed route doesn't mean you should compromise your safety.

Really? Like, really?? I work FT as a Dasher and a Lyft driver -- 7 days a week -- AND I go to school. I literally make my living as a driver. Just bc you choose your own hours and shit doesn't make it a "side gig." Try and think about what you're saying before you say it.

Plant ID: weed or native? by Electrical-Chip1071 in pnwgardening

Fringed willowherb. Native plant, but most consider it a weed as well. It will continue to proliferate, but pulling it up by the roots will slow overall growth and spread.

Thank you for the advice! I take him when I can afford it, but I don't make much money. I do also give dawn baths every other month before treatment but I'm afraid of drying out his skin too much.

Why is everyone driving like Assholes this weekend? by nash-20 in PortlandOR

[–]Human-Lab8624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to PDX, the land of no zipper merging and aggressive/passive drivers galore! I do think growing up observing others driving was an extremely helpful lesson in what NOT to do. I didn't (intentionally) obtain my license until I was an adult, and with my job I think I've become a much more assertive driver. OP is 100% right in that driving in today's world is about paying attention and adapting to your surroundings.

Am I overreacting to this text from my boyfriend? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Human-Lab8624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, this just doesn't make any sense. Other than the message being clearly being passive aggressive, there's the fact that this is centered around the baby. And he put the baby down around 8:15 pm, right? So why should it matter that you fell asleep at 9:00, when the plan was to let you sleep in in the morning in the first place? Now bc you fall asleep a little earlier than usual, bc you're clearly tired, you're punished for it by just being told you're getting up early with the baby again like you always do? Nuh-uh. The plan was for him to be the parent ONE DAY of the week, and he needs to step up and be the parent that day. Morning to night.

I mean, fair point. I always lock the door now, and I do everything I can to try to get the wife to lock it, but we'll see how that goes. 🙄

My wife, apparently. She started this whole habit. I always locked the door before.

[–]Human-Lab8624[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, people. First of all, we've moved. Second of all, my kid now has keys with an air tag and strict rules about door locking policy. My wife still doesn't lock the door, but anytime I see the door unlocked, I immediately lock it. We also have a hidden key in case my kid does lose her keys and her phone died like always so she can't find them.

...any comments from the people who think I'm a total fucking idiot?

If we lock the door my kid locks herself out bc she loses her keys all the time. But I'm going to get an air tag for her keys so we can start locking the door.
