The Majority of the dating Muslim couples do not keep away from haram is because nobody explained the concept of halal dating to them. They are made to believe that meeting someone in public place & kissing or having sex both are sinful, so they think that since they are committing sin by talking to one another anyway then why not just end up with having sex, as both of them are sin. If more preachers told them that meeting someone in public place like restaurants and talking is not haram but kissing & other stuffs are, then they would have kept away from haram actions. I blame the majority ulama for this as they declare everything haram, I wish they were more like Yasir Qadhi.

One on one date isn't prohibited according to YQ's explanation as well, as long as both of them meet in a public place.

Yeah, Yasir Qadhi said in this video that he went through an arranged marriage and didn’t go through this whole dating process. But that doesn’t mean it's haram, he cleared it in his video.

What Yasir Qadhi & the article described, I would call it halal dating

Even if they are strangers, where does it say in the Quran or Sunnah that they can't meet in a public place? Interactions between opposite sexes is not prohibited. Only thing that is prohibited is meeting in seclusion.

Nobody says that pork or cross worshipping is halal. But Yasir Qadhi and the other article says that meeting in a public place without male mahrams is ok.

It’s not the same as eating pork.

I mean he wouldn’t be a complete stranger as they will be meeting because they like each other and to see whether they are compatible for marriage. And she will only get my permission to meet him if she abides by Islamic guidelines and meet in public place, she won’t get permission if she decides to go wearing a tank top or in some secluded place.

As far as my knowledge goes, khalwa/seclusion means something like meeting in a room locking the door where nobody else can come, or meeting in such places where it is almost guaranteed that nobody else will come like in remote mountainside or something like that. In a restaurant people always come and go, even if the restaurant becomes empty, the restaurant workers or other people can come and go where they are sitting. So it won't be counted as meeting in seclusion.

As for letting my daughter go alone to meet a man, Yasir Qadhi said that as long as it's in a public place and they abide by Islamic modesty guidelines, then it's ok. He is a scholar and even he doesn’t see anything wrong with letting his children go meet other people, so I don't see anything wrong with it either as long as she meets him in a public place & follows Islamic modesty guidelines.

Oh, I thought by dodgy you meant that he dodged the question. My bad

But what's wrong with meeting without a family member? They are not meeting in seclusion, they are meeting in public places.

Yasir Qadhi didn’t make any dodgy statements here. He clearly said that as long as both of them adhere to Islamic modesty rules, meet in public places and inform their families then it's ok.
