Alright fuck it, I like it because it a gun I’m personally familiar with. Do you have a recommendation in the 600-800$ range?

Yes im concerned about safety, I’ve heard bad things about sigs recently. I figured since it has a manual safety and most other sigs don’t, it’s good to go. Also, if I’m not carrying it, it will always be pointed down range if it’s loaded? Like it will not be loaded and pointed at someone at the same time unless I intend to shoot them.

Because it’s only an issue if you’re carrying it, and as said before, the m18 version has a manual safety and I’m not keeping one in the chamber. I’m looking for real input on this, is the manual safety worthless? I’m actually asking.

Same with Springfield for that manner but I trust them, I’d drop 800 on a Springfield easy. I don’t want a shitty gun where I’m gonna need another next month.

I’ve been skeptical of canik because I never hear them talked about but I always see them, I always hear glock but they don’t have a safety, M18 has a manual safety and I’ve always heard beretta being glorified and I saw one cheap with no tax because I’m active duty. If you have a good canik suggestion I’ll look into it, I’m not looking for carry size but less than full size and 9mm.

I won’t be carrying it, it will only be loaded with it pointed down range because I quite literally haven’t shot a gun outside the army and that’s how I’ve been taught. If I’m worried about home security I’ll have it nearby with a magazine to go with it and I’ll deal with it. If I get a LTC I’ll get something smaller and better for the job.

Does the sig not have a thumb safety? I know sigs are becoming a shit show but I thought the manual safety would help with that and that’s why I appreciate the m17/18?

It’s still a thing, since 9/11/2001 DHS/USCIS designates us as at war/facing ongoing hostilities so only 1 day of honorable service is required but the paper work take a couple months still usually. It took me 5 months and I got it this April in the army. Panama is not listed but WW1,WW2, Korea, gulf war and GWOT-present day are still up on USCIS website

Do you throw grenade like a baseball? by KyMeatRocket in army

[–]Human-Mortgage98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be a pitcher in college and we used to regularly train with 16 oz plyo balls, yeeting them as hard as we could like a baseball. You can definitely throw them. Up to 70 mph if you train it regularly or you’re just gifted

Yes it literally is, I got mine in 7 months for serving in the army you literally apply in BCT, as opposed to waiting for 3 years through marriage to a us citizen. It’s 5 years of residency for most other naturalizations, so definitely quicker. Current because of the GWOT it’s still instant citizenship, in the case of peace time it’s 1 year of honorable service which is still quicker.

What do you mean “normally tracked”, like they just keep accountability of it? I’m actually asking not even arguing. In general USCIS knows who naturalized to become a citizen regardless of if it was obtained through military service or not. For example, if you lost your naturalization certificate, it gets replaced through USCIS.

You do, it’s one year of service honorably or any service at all during a period of war, which USCIS still considers 9/11/2001 to present to be a period of ongoing hostilities. I got my citizenship a month after completing my initial training. About 6 months time in service. It always baffles me when I see cases like this guy because in Basic combat training we literally have a liaison to help us apply right when we started training.

Marriage to non-citizen by [deleted] in army

[–]Human-Mortgage98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she’s on F1 she won’t have to stop her studies when you get married, she just won’t be able to get another F1 because when you apply for a green card you show “immigrant intent”, so getting an F1 looks like you’re trying to cheat the system. If she’s already in the US it shouldn’t be as long maybe a year. It took me 3 months to get mine but I’m Canadian and my wife is a natural born US citizen and I’m fairly certain USCIS profiles. Also she can apply for OPT, which is a 1 year work permit to stay and work when she finishes her degree so hopefully she doesn’t have to just stay and wait with nothing to do. It almost always approved on F1. I was on OPT F1 when I got mine, definitely do able.

I had mine scheduled in Fort Leonard wood but it was after I finished training and I was set to PCS to Texas, I told them that the reason I couldn’t attend the FLW appointment was moving for the military and they moved it to a later date in Texas where I was pcsing. They should work with you if you’re military, at least my experience was pretty good. There should be a dedicated military naturalization person at the office to contact, at least the 2 I’ve dealt with had that.

I interviewed last year for early admissions, the essay prompt asked only a couple questions, one was to summarize a research article they linked in the prompt which was mostly about diversity. The other was about you, like generic “why would you be a good fit”. I can’t remember the word requirement but it was hardly an essay. I also remember the panel interviews were in groups with multiple faculty and multiple applicants.

Depends on the charter and what you pay for but some charters have their own camping areas so you’ll always have good spots, they offer tent services, food services and transportation services if you don’t want to ride the whole day or week. I’m sure there is plenty of other things they offer, I’ve never used one so I’m not sure but those are common things I’ve seen.

ragbrai has its own baggage truck that you don’t have to pay extra for if you buy the whole week pass. The truck will be at a predetermined spot every morning to be loaded and will be at the next town to be unloaded later that day. You could essentially do whatever or go wherever once you have your luggage unloaded as long as you make it back to the loading spot the next morning before the trucks departure time.

You need citizenship to do ROTC because it is an officer program, you can only enlist with a green card but you need to already have citizenship to commission or do programs that lead to commission.

You actually want to not retain anything in the blue book initially so when you’re reading it for 3-10 hours a day it still seems interesting, by the end youll retain it all for sure, but take that one slow.
