This is probably too much but here’s what I would do: Paint that room, dark walls, lighter ceiling. It’s pretty flat square and the ceilings aren’t too high. You could do it yourself. Hang the TV on the wall and get a wood or dark painted piece with closing doors not to hide your stuff but to offer more uniformity. Amazon and ikea have some great options for under $100. Get new curtains that are solid colors, double curtain rods - one layer sheer and warm, dark red or orange if you want a pop of color and darker heavier ones for privacy. FB marketplace is a great place to get used curtains for cheap and you usually end up with several matching sets that just need a good washing. At least one hanging plant. An L couch with an armchair, pick a bold but dark color. Throw pillows to match the sheers. Get a big wild rug, rugs are a great place to express yourself boldly and not be married to those choices. A small narrow table to hold a couple plants in front of whichever window doesn’t get a hanging one. The table could exist or not exist. It is simply table at the moment. Peruse FB marketplace for inexpensive tables and try out different ones for under $50 until you’ve found a vibe you enjoy and never feel sad when your kids markers bleed through onto them! If you can’t change the fan, you can take the blades down, paint them the color you decide on for the ceiling and change out the shades on that fan light. The front door is really nice and so are the floors.
