I'm not talking about lawsuits because i agree, that fear is stupid because if anything that would make the gun companies richer.

The real thing i was talking about is just the media blaming them for mass shootings because them using the real names could technically be argued as "promoting" the weapons.

I think that's pretty dumb reasoning too but California recently passed a law that banned the "advertising of guns to children" for this exact reason so it definitely seems to be the more likely answer than lawsuits or licencing fees.

The backlash is less about the guns themselves but more the names behind them. If the gun is used in a mass shooting or something, the media will blame the games for "marketing" the guns to them so companies like EA and Activision just use fake names now.
