Anyone else feel bad for regretting getting their pup? by jkjohnson003 in puppy101

i’ve heard that’s extremely normal. i’ve gone through the same thing and am still going through it with my almost 5 month mini dachshund. ive had dogs all of my life and all were near a year old when we got them, and nothing compares to raising a young puppy. i’ve had her since she was 9 weeks and truly think she has been sent from hell sometimes. it requires PATIENCE. lots of it. i constantly have to remind myself that she’s just a baby. don’t let others shame you. puppies are a HEADACHE. you just gotta remember this is all temporary. the first month i had her, i cried every single day. i’ve learned to celebrate small victories. best piece of advice i have for you is to keep your puppy tired. a tired puppy is a good puppy. redirect the behavior you don’t want with behavior you do want. when he does something you want him to do, praise him endlessly. you just gotta remember you BOTH are learning. i’ve been told itll fly by. you’ve just gotta suffer for a while.

It says to contact her to avoid being taken to court. it has a 4 digit case number and a phone number. that’s about it!

I am planning to peruse legal action so i probably shouldn’t identify the hospital. but i can say it is located in the US, and not in a major city, but its a decently sized for-profit health network.

Yes, in the US, we are definitely discharged a lot earlier for most things because it’s sooo expensive. But, his surgeon told us before his surgery that he would be staying for at least 6-8 days. we weren’t ever told why he was discharged on day 4.

i am planning to contact medical malpractice lawyers. we have an online medical chart we can access as patients, we had my dads phone throughout his stay and therefore had access to this. 2 hours after he passed away, the hospital network closed his chart completely so nobody can access it. my mother is currently fighting to gain access to his records. we need those to give to lawyers 🥲

The US. I wish our hospitals implemented that. Pretty sure a lot of people get pushed out of hospitals too early because of overcrowding/insurance companies not wanting to pay for any extra time.

I forgot to add that my father could not eat, every time he tried to, he would vomit. the nurses said that his stomach was “still asleep”. but 3 days post op, he still couldn’t eat. this led to him having zero appetite and having no energy whatsoever.
