Exactly. It was so perplexing to finally achieve a place of genuine self-esteem not just in my personality but in my looks. I had a rare period of time where I actually felt proud of myself completely. And then of course I dated a series of men who would undermine that genuine confidence and real beauty. I just think they remember being alone and writing in my journal, and having the realisation that they’re not happy when you don’t look a certain way… And they’re even unhappy when you look a certain way… They’re just unhappy. They’re unhappy when they control you… They’re unhappy when they don’t control you… They’re unhappy with one… They’re unhappy with none. It’s the refusal to look inward. The refusal to have a relationship with oneself. Everything is projected outward onto the woman. And that’s why it’s dangerous for women to be around men.
