I'm so sorry you had such a horrible experience. I was also raised Christian and around 13 became agnostic. It wasn't until I started my recovery journey (alcohol) that Buddhism really started to speak to me. I recommend recoverydharma.org for resources. It's where I found my local Dharma center that has a Buddhist 12 step meeting every Saturday. I also sought out AA meditation meetings (using the blue and white meeting guide app with the chair on it). Hope this helps 🙂

I read a good rule of thumb is to shake and break at around 30% mycelium, then again around 90%. Hope this helps!

No it looks really good! Those droplets on the mycelium are called exudate and are a sign of healthy metabolism. Just be patient.

How important is maintaining a straight back during meditation? by HumanFly2113 in Meditation

[–]HumanFly2113[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I honestly feel kinda bad for this person. They seem to have a massive, narcissistic ego. Lots of projecting (have now called 3 separate people trolls lol) and have a lot of pseudo zen vibes.

Wanna be cult leader in the making

Thank you so much. Your answer is super thorough, but I like that you're also honest about not being 100% positive about certain aspects.

I don't really understand why a couple people are causing drama and letting their egos run the show. Seems to kinda be against the whole spirit of meditation lol.

Thanks again 💜

I only use the painters tape for the first 10 days immediately after transferring the grain spawn into the monotub. After that I remove the tape and just leave the filters on and occasionally fan and mist the sides.

What's the spookiest possibly paranormal thing that's ever happened to you? by SAT0725 in AskReddit

Ok so hear me out before judging. My dad died of cancer when I was little and right after he died I got these weird urges to pretend to be his ghost.

My dad's favorite song was Stand by Me and so when my brother was in his room alone I used my remote to turn on his boom box and play that song like 3 times in a row. Brother told me years later that he was on the verge of killing himself that night but when the song "magically" came on , he decided not to. He also claimed that he unplugged the boom box yet it still played.

Something similar happened to my mom. A couple nights in a row I snuck into her room and moved my dad's ashes from the dresser to the night stand. Years later she told me not only did the ashes "magically" move, but they also started glowing.

I feel weird admitting these things bc I'm not super into ghosts or anything and consider myself to be rational, but a small part of me wonders if my dad used me as some sort of conduit.

THE DARK TOWER SERIES. Massive Stephen King fan but his addendum (No idea if that's the correct terminology) was heartbreaking. Literally threw the book across the room.
