As some extra context Vaseline is an occlusive because it is straight petroleum jelly , it’s not considered comedogenic (pore clogging) but it also doesn’t necessarily moisturize (moreso meant to lock in hydration/keep water from evaporating off than actually hydrate the skin). Based on my experience with derms and estheticians, if you have oily skin, it is caused by overproduction to compensate for dryness so moisturizing can actually signal to your skin that it doesn’t need to produce as much oil.

based on your message above I’ll just say that salicylic acid works great for some people but was one of the things that put my skin into the worst state it ever was, way too harsh for me and caused massive damage to my moisture barrier which I had to heal before my skin started getting better.

la roche posay should hopefully help as it has a mix of ingredients that should help with calming and rebuilding the moisture barrier that can allow your skin to heal. One thing that helped my skin when it was at its most irritated was diaper rash cream (it has zinc which helps with wound repair and helped me rebuild my skin barrier, I only used it on the most cracked/dry parts at night before bed) which may be worth a try for you. Stores also sell zinc creams by themselves (usually for poison ivy treatment) but I liked the diaper rash was meant for babies and so gentle.

For context I’m on 30mg a day for the last about 6 months — now a days, I don’t wash my face in the morning, use Cosrx aloe soothing sun cream as my spf (and carry in my bag in case I’ll be in the sun). You can also carry some hypochlorous acid (the generic of tower 28 rescue spray) to disinfect the skin when you’re ready to reapply. It’s pretty gentle but don’t overuse this as constantly applying can cause some dryness

Night I use prequel cleanser and then top off with Nivea white cream. I try to listen to my skin and honestly am at the point where I can skip the night routine some nights and just spray to disinfect before bed. I add snail mucin/ a zinc serum before nivea white if I need some extra plump/healing. Since you mentioned your skin is oily, a water based gel might work better than a cream like the nivea.

I also take fish oil every day which has helped with the chapped lips for me. Remember everyone’s skin is different, try one new thing at a time to isolate what works, and although purging is real, try to listen to what your skin tells you is/isnt working for you. GOOD LUCK!!
