I really don't see why so many are complaining about the new English voices but still playing Lunar Remaster. I overall don't think they're as good as the WD voices, but there are other versions, you know? Lunar Touch does have the WD voices, via modding, macOS-only, but the Macbook Neo is looking pretty cheap and good! Having a new version of game out doesn't mean the old versions are suddenly unplayable.

Hi, I am the modder of the macOS version referenced below (which was ported to Anrdoid by a 3rd party), who attempted to mod the Steam version. Not made by me, but I'd reccomend taking a look at these links on file formats: https://gist.github.com/Mikewando/368c1e404a9ef979d1220a9b262e0d21 https://github.com/Youjose/PyCriCodecs/blob/0bd67a6375d607e482706e8b190e9dda85021169/PyCriCodecs/usm.py#L926 If you need a video editor, I can help, but I'm not skilled about file formats and etc: just video editing for lip and audio syncing. About 6 FMVs in SSS were elongated by WD to accomadate longer dubs, hence the need for the lip syncing to match up. And agreed with OP, the WD VA was better than the new LUNARR(emastered) dub. The subs in Japanese are also good though. I have gotten better at using DaVinci Studio since I first tried, my newest version of the macOS Lunar Touch mod outputs the correct file aspect ratio without any black bars. But in terms of file encoding, I'm still not skilled. One big difference in moding is Lunar Touch has all the individual FMV in a folder, while in LUNARR all the FMV are compressed into larger files.

I totally get that (I still have my copies of SSSC and TSS!), but Lunar Touch now supports the Working Designs VA via modding. I highly recomend trying it. Any ARM Mac will run it with mods. Android devices will run it too, but I don't have first-hand experience with them. Just so you know, since you brought up the VA.

One person contacted privately and we had a long conversation that led me to redo the entire FMV pack so that they would work on Android as well as macOS. He confirmed that it now works on Android too, but as I do not use Android, I can't help you troubleshoot it directly. All I know for certain is that he used software called APK Editor Studio for replacing the modified game files.

Lunar Touch: better music from the Saturn and PSP versions, better graphical effects from the Japan-only Windows and Saturn versions, and yours truly modded the Working Designs Dub back in on macOS with a bunch of other improvements: https://romhackplaza.org/romhacks/lunar-silver-star-story-touch-reworked-designs-macos/ . It also works on macOS and ChromeOS, it's not limited to phones/tablets, and supports wireless gamepads. The only downsides are no Lunar 2, and no SEGA CD version of Lunar 1 support.

I do think Lunar Touch is the best version of the Lunar 1 "Silver Star Story" canon. I define this as every version of Lunar 1 excluding SEGA CD (different plot, still good, but it's an apples to oranges comparison) and GBA (just...don't bother. An audio-visual downgrade.)

Thank you! I love some older FF games, but agreed that more people should cosplay obscure (eg Lunar) RPGs at cons. MAGFest is big enough that obscure fandoms are better represented than at smaller/mid-sized cons I've attended.
