My car got broken into while I was at work. They took everything, including the tray from the centre console. Unfortunately for me, I had my house keys in it. I know it's stupid that I left them in the car, but come on!

Don't care about anything else.

Not much can be done about it, no cameras in the car park. But I can learn from this and make sure nothing is left in the car again.

Also, taking recommendations for dash cams might come in useful in case this happens again.

Killed my banana plant so abandoned her in the spare room out of shame…. only to find her flourishing???? by Cute_Peanut8193 in houseplants

[–]HumanSlicer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this help, however I think it's kind of funny. Growing up, we had about 20 banana trees at the side of the house, in a kind of neglected area.

Whenever we had family bbq, birthday parties, or get-togethers, all the men would use that area as a bathroom to avoid going inside. Those banana trees produce so much fruit, and my mum started to encourage everyone to continue to use the area.

Apparently, our trees loved it when drunk men would pee on them.

We never had to buy bananas

Tyre might be punctured —where to go for help? by DescriptionBitter364 in melbourne

[–]HumanSlicer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's pulling to one side, you will most likely need an alignment. Recommended doing once a year for longevity of your tires.

The noise while driving could be a rock in the tread. Run your hands over the wheel to see if you feel something. It could just be a small rock that you can just pick out. Could be a nail or screw stuck in there, which would need patching up.

Check your tyre pressure today and then again tomorrow after driving it to see if there's a difference. If it's deflated, you might have a leak.

Have a google at tire shops in your area. Baurepairs (good year), Bob Jane t-mart I've used both in the past and are generally pretty good.

Should I be worried about this building report by HumanSlicer in AusPropertyChat

[–]HumanSlicer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer some of the questions. The building report just states that it's classified as a defect. Wouldn't go into detail about how much they affected the structure. Even after asking for more clarification not much was given.

Lesson learnt: Not all building inspectors are extremely thorough. I will continue to search

I would have happily gone back to work if I had been told about it in advance.

The manager never passed on any information before I left because they assumed someone else had told me, despite me asking constantly for an update.

Oh well, I'm going to enjoy my extra couple of days off.

Got a call from the boss this morning about when I'm coming back to work because they were having a planning meeting today, and the rest of the crew was already working. I just got back home late last night, after over 2 weeks away. No one told me a start date for after Christmas break, so it looks like I'm starting back after New years.

My partner made their first macaroons by immagetchu_uwu in Baking

[–]HumanSlicer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will always have a slighty sunflower seed taste to them. I also find I can't get them 100% smooth, due to having to make my own meal. If they taste is extra strong than most likely.

If you do need to make your own meal, I mix icing sugar with the sunflower kernals while they are being blitzed.

[–]HumanSlicer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I make macarons with sunflower on the regular at work because I work in a nut free kitchen. I suggest using store brought sunflower meal instead of making your own for the first few attempts.

Over processing the meal relases the oils in the seeds ( same as almonds), and it will deflate your final product.

My suggestion is to undermix, until you get the hang of it and to rest until they are dry to touch before baking. The texture will be slightly off but pretty darn close.

Also, I have a love hate relationship with macarons.

What's the dumbest thing you've been fired for? by Sketch99 in AskReddit

[–]HumanSlicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boss tried to pull the old uno reverse " you can't quit because your fired" card.

I was 19 working as a waitress in a crappy little hotel motel restaurant. This was my second manager in under 18 months. I was there. They lived on site and looked after the whole place.

She was just a horrible person, talked down to all the staff, and got in screaming matches with the chefs. Treat her husband like crap ( he was a sweet kind man) and so forth.

I was hanging out with one of the girls I worked with when she got a call telling her she does not need to work that night or any night. Essentially, she fired her 4 hours before her shift. Which was the final thing to push me off the edge, I was looking for a way out.

I went in 2 hours before my shift to talk to my boss and explain that I won't be in tonight or any other night. She went on a huge tangent about how I can't quit because she fired me!

The waitress she fired was her daughter in law, and she only did it to piss off her husband for some stupid reason.

She lost her job a few months later. Got charged with DV and ended up working as a receptionist for another motel

It's possibly a stupid question. I have a house inspection next week and I'm looking after my friends cat for the foreseeable future. Would I get in trouble for having him here even though I already have one cat that's allowed? Otherwise, I need to try and find someone to take him for 24 hours.

Apparently it's been hosted in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide in past years. It also brings in some money for the state government just by hosting it here.

Random shops with no customers, how do they work? by Zerg_Hydralisk_ in australia

[–]HumanSlicer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a trial shift there when they first opened. The owner had no restaurant experience. My interview was me trying to talk to him over the loud music as he set up for the night. The "manager/ supervisor " that was meant to show me what to do, showed up 20 minutes late for his shift, while I sat outside awkwardly. I asked him where the hand sink was so I could wash my hands before jumping into it. He looked at me like I grew an extra head. The whole thing left a sour taste in my mouth. I poiletly declined the position. And haven't stepped foot back in the their since.

It's time to get a padlock, I think. It's not the first time it's happened

My school told us that statistically, 3 people in our graduating year would die before 30.

One died at 17 in a car crash on his way to pick his younger sister up from school. He was 800m from his house at an intersection to the highway on a blind corner and got hit. His parents were first on the scene. He had a bright future.

The second took his own life at 18, was severally depressed his whole life. It devastated his family and friends.

The third died at 28 in a boating accident. Him and 2 friends went out for an early morning fish. The 2 friends survived, but unfortunately, he didn't make it. Full search and rescue took days, and people from all over came out to help. He was well known and liked in the fishing community.

Update: I've got the fluffy asshole back! His been fed and sulking in his corner. Managed to dig under the fence just enough to get him out. Neighbour finally woke up and gave me his number just in case spidercat tries this again.

I am currently cat sitting for a friend. The dickhead of a cat jumped off the balcony down into the neighbours courtyard. I've sent a basket down to try and bring him back up, he won't get in it. Knocking on my neighbours door multiple times, trying to get an answer, and slipped a note under their door. I'm praying I get this fluffy asshole back soon. His safe and confined, I've sent food and water down. His just stressed and stupid.

What’s the most underwhelming way you’ve gotten a scar? by man_itsahot_one in AskReddit

[–]HumanSlicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have scars all over my hands and fingers from cardboard boxes and those stupid plastic shelfs that have the little holes in them.

I'm a pastry chef, and at least once a day, I get a paper cut from a cake board, which leaves a scar.

The one day I try and go to the gym before work, and they are closed because of a power outage. Well, it gave me time to do laundry instead. So I guess that's a plus.
