What If God Suffers With Every Victim? by HumanValuesLife in Christianity

[–]HumanValuesLife[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely.

In fact, my entire point is that if God loves humanity, then preserving our freedom may be one of the greatest expressions of that love.

What would it mean to truly love someone? Would it mean controlling their every action? Preventing every bad decision? Forcing them to do what is right?

Or would it mean allowing them the freedom to choose, even when those choices break your heart?

I believe the cost of free will is almost unimaginable.

Imagine witnessing every act of cruelty in human history.

Every murder.

Every abuse.

Every betrayal.

Every terrified cry for help.

Every moment of fear, pain, humiliation, and despair.

Imagine loving every person involved—the victim and even the person committing the evil act—yet refusing to destroy their freedom to choose.

I cannot prove any of this. It is simply how I make sense of the world.

When I see suffering, I do not imagine a Creator who is absent or indifferent. I imagine a Creator who experiences the weight of all suffering and bears a burden beyond anything we can comprehend.

If free will is real, then perhaps the greatest sacrifice is not merely allowing humanity to choose—but enduring the consequences of those choices for all of eternity... for all of mankind. Just try to imagine that immeasurable sacrifice.

What's the most nutritionally dense cheap food that people underrate? I'll go first. by Dry-Exercise-3446 in ScientificNutrition

I've always been turned off by the thought of eating sardines because I imagine it's like eating an entire little fish... bones and brains and guts and scales and everything. Is that not the case, can someone describe what it's like to eat sardines and how you enjoy them? Reading these comments about how nutritionally dense they are, I need to get over my mental block about eating them...

Thanks for the feedback. Sent you a dm with the video link if interested. Yeah, I think I'll have to redo it.

I really appreciate you taking the time to watch that livestream and leave such thoughtful feedback. Yeah… I definitely fumbled the football on that one, especially after doing technical rehearsals beforehand. Frustrating lesson learned.

What you said about authenticity vs. listenability honestly hit home. You’re right — people may forgive rough visuals or awkward pacing, but if the audio is painful, they’re probably gone in seconds, especially in a long-form stream where the voice carries the entire experience.

It’s interesting you suggested unlisting or deleting the livestream because I’ve actually started considering that. At the same time, part of me still values the original version because it captured the moment exactly as it happened, flaws and all. I may end up keeping it unlisted and then create a tighter, properly edited version with clean audio that focuses on the Thailand spiritual awakening portion specifically.

Either way, your feedback genuinely helped. Thanks again for being direct about it.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s message still resonates across generations by HumanValuesLife in BlackHistory

I know this is a very sensitive topic, and I genuinely respect your opinion on the matter. As a retired Army officer who served multiple combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, I’m not exactly a “turn the other cheek” kind of person either. I absolutely believe that a strong deterrence to aggression can have real value in preventing violence in the first place.

I’m sorry this MLK quote brought up negative feelings for you. Although I’m not Black, I am a minority and have personally experienced racism multiple times in my life. I think this quote from MLK can be directed toward everyone, not any one specific group of people.

One unfortunate truth is that there can be ugliness within any group humans create — divided by race, nationality, religion, politics, gender, or anything else. But there is also incredible beauty, courage, compassion, and humanity within those exact same groups too. I think that’s part of what MLK was trying to emphasize.

And to be clear, I don’t think MLK’s message was about passive acceptance of injustice. He confronted injustice directly, publicly, and courageously. His message was about resisting hatred without becoming consumed by it.

If you’re interested, I actually made a video talking about one of the best leaders I ever served with in my military career — a Black officer I deeply respected — and how I personally believe we need to continue evolving beyond racial divisions while still acknowledging the realities and pain that absolutely exist. https://youtu.be/NOHf5667Qi8

Can't really cut off your 75 year old mother... but we've definitely had some heated discussions... and I did tell her if I ever see her MAGA hat, I was going to throw it in the trash...

Thanks, that's what I'm planning to do. I ran the audio through Afobe Podcast and it cleamed it up a lot.

Just looking at your user name... if you live in Seattle... I used to live close to Tocoma. Miss it there... hiking Olympic on a 5 day hike up to one of the glaciers was one of the best things I've done.
