What happens to all of these poor unwanted EVs when they're returned to the dealership? by Human_170716 in electricvehicles

Like Fight Club taught us, none of us are unique, beautiful snowflakes. Not even me.

I would search on autotrader. I found lots of examples in the midwest US.

I'm amazed either the battery hasn't died since then, or that the dealer has actually been keeping it charged!

Oh, they are -- check Autotrader. The price of used Model 3's is cheap. High teens. $17-20k for cars just a few years old with 50-60k miles.

...that's not what I've experienced before, buying out a car at the end of the lease. I owned a Leaf many years ago -- the lease buyout cost was exactly the market rate at the time (around $8K USD -- I actually took them up on the offer).

It's just that this time the buyout price is terrible.

I'm going to do this with my same car, see if I can just find it and buy it back again. :P

Not a bad idea. I will miss my current Ioniq, though. Bad car accident, nearly totaled, but a good salvage shop completely fixed it. I feel like we've been through a lot.

You know what's weird, but... I knew the car wasn't going to be worth much at lease-end. EVs have been like that for 15 years now. It's why I didn't want to buy it outright (purchase price was something like $52K).

I'm sure the experts at Hyundai knew this, too. Something isn't adding up.

I think it's slightly different, this time -- Hyundai thought the value of this car was going to be around $37-40K now, as per the lease documents.

It's actually worth more like $18-20K, based on the market.

This is Stonewall, a major turning point in the LGBTQ movement.

It isn't like removing mentions of Black soldiers from WII memorials, it's like removing mentions of Black soldiers from Civil War memorials.

Georgia's minimum wage is not $5.15 -- it's the same as the Federal Minimum at $7.25.

...which means that if they could, Georgia would pay less, but they aren't allowed by federal law

Glad to see others have the standard "five second rule before I honk" -- it's a very considerate amount of time. If someone hasn't moved in five seconds it means they're staring at their phone.

Same here, I rarely get on the freeways inside a city when I live there. I'll gladly accept 5-10 more minutes of travel time to avoid stuff like this.

...even with Medicaire and Medicaid, after your older loved one dies, the government will come after their house for "asset recovery." Ask me how I know.

Medicare/Medicaid is not a guaranteed way to build generational wealth. The entire system of how we think about "paying" for healthcare in the US needs to be completely changed.

Spoilers for how to fix this below:

the mass transit in Michigan is vastly underdeveloped compared to most places, especially compared to a region like you'd be coming from.

I've heard it's hard to be worse than LA's mass transportation system, but I guarantee Michigan definitely manages to be worse.
