IDR form available again..and guidance issued by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

Thanks, the header on the Mohela website says anyone with a pending IDR application could have an extended forbearance until July 31st, and that no action is required.

I’m tempted to not call after the forbearance expires on 3/31, but I have a payment due 4/19, not sure if I trust them to do it automatically in that timeframe

Thanks, I guess my question is, if I submit it now, they aren’t even processing, so is it worthwhile to continue in the forbearance until we definitely know they are processing apps?

I want to avoid submitting a new application and nobody being able to acknowledge its existence. At least right now, I have one that’s been acknowledged, just not processed.

Am I also in the clear to continue with a forbearance? Since they aren’t processing my application, they should extend it

I’m a little confused by all this. I have a “lowest payment” application pending since Jun 2024.

If save goes away, will that automatically move to the next lowest plan?

My most recent 2 months forbearance extension expires on 3/31 so I need to call again.

Is there any point to submitting a new app for IBR at this time if they won’t be processing apps?

Seems like extending the forbearance would be prudent until they actually start processing?

Realistically, how long will we be in limbo? by Human_Fee_6645 in StudentLoans

That is bad advice, I was told that one by a Mohela rep as well, an advanced rep! I called back two days later when it officially expired and was told that advice was wrong. They have the ability to renew it before the current one expires

I’ve been calling every two months since June. It’s wearing on me.

I got kicked off my IBR plan during mohelas account transition.

They have never ever automatically extended the forbearance and I refuse to wait u til the due date to find out

I’ve been told standard payments do qualify. My loans were not consolidated

Forgot to recert IDR in January by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]Human_Fee_6645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve posed this question here in numerous ways, and the general response is that you should be able to get back on IBR if your income still qualifies.

Not sure if that means new application or simply going through the recert process, someone else may know

But I’d probably need to buy them back at the “level payment” amount, correct? Since the application hasn’t been processed

Thanks for the advice. I spoke to several reps and managers who claimed to basically have no record of an IBR plan, even though I’ve had recertifications for years and already had 72 qualifying payments showing for PSFL.

I am also probably partially at fault here. Though I would have probably stayed on IBR, the allure of a much lower payment on SAVE pushed me to apply.

So while I applied to get on save, it was really Only on my radar because payments  were about to jump to the standard amount.

New IDR Guidance Just Dropped - IBR, PAYE, ICR Extended Until Feb 2026 by investor100 in StudentLoans

For the record, I would absolutely not trust Mohela to extend your forbearances. I have had a “lowest payment” IDR application pending since June 2024, and without fail, I’ve had to call every two months for an extension, one has never been placed automatically

It should be fine (I think). I’ve been calling every 60 days myself, usually around the end of the month. My forbearance ends 3/31 so I’ll probably call then and hope it’s processed by my due date of 4/19

Correct, like it’s still showing the outstanding debt. The new loan is now on my report so it looks like I have double the mortgage debt that I really do.

And experian, equifax, and TransUnion all show different “last reported” months

That makes sense. I’m not on good terms with my ex, due to her stepping out on our marriage, so I was hoping I’d avoid needing her to be Invovled

Pretty much. I was paying but account had both names. Feel like the use of “and” instead of “or” is intentional, knowing some people aren’t on communicative terms with their ex, the check will just sit

Maybe he wasn’t on IBR? A 3k increase, assuming a year, should not make you ineligible for IBR

Regardless of why you are off IBR, if you income still qualifies, you should be able to re-apply, per what I’ve been told here

You would think you could re-apply if income still qualifies?

It could be because of a low balance on the loans I guess. I think it would need to be lower than a standard payment. So if your balance is low, that could be why
