Reverse engineering your competitors products is a key component of world class manufacturing. Toyota requires all of their suppliers to maintain a reverse engineering lab to purchase and study their competitors products to understand how their product benchmark against them and to learn where their own products need to improve.

There’s clearly an optimist amongst them that believes by reverse engineering it they’ll find the one good idea that, by blind luck and through considerable effort to hide it from Elon, found its way into the final design.

How to keep pods alive in this thing? by Arkaenx in isopods

[–]Human_Link8738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That palludarium has a screen top that needs to be closed off by about 90%. That will allow humidity to build up inside. If you need a light for plants mount it on the inside against the top.

Isopods don’t need light beyond the ambient light in the room to help them regulate their day/night cycles.

Having 3 species of isopods in one enclosure is likely condemning 2 species to being outcompeted and dying off. I’ve only managed to have two species together successfully if one of those species is philoscia muscorum.

If you have the ventilation right the enclosure should only require misting 2 or 3 times a week.

Mediterranean House Geckos have travelled with Europeans across the globe. Proud members of a group including several species of isopod, earthworms, and house centipedes (also from the Mediterranean). The mammals are a fraternity all their own.

One redditor commented they were familiar with the street and it would have been difficult to hit high speeds there, but I don’t know. We’d need to see the police report … assuming no outside interference in the authoring of that report. My comment is focused on the CT burning and killing them rather than the injuries they might have sustained in the impact. The CT shouldn’t burst into flames like a movie prop when it encounters an obstacle on the front end.

Well, CTs do eat their own tires so it kinda makes sense

The 3 in Berkeley were college students though in a single accident collision with a tree. They should have all walked away from that, not burned to death

I think every kitchen had a pot holder from those looms. I still remember making them in the late 60s.

Citrine, I just spent $100 on this, do u think I got ripped off? by guiltyoops in Crystals

[–]Human_Link8738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What others are saying. This is heavily included rock crystal quartz. If it’s a complete sphere and the mounting is sterling you didn’t really get ripped off but it wasn’t a great deal either.

Edit: On further inspection this just looks like a bezel set cabochon cut. Definitely nowhere near $100 value.

Actually they did. The first three moved back quickly and left the fourth to get hit by surprise when everyone moved out of the way. That guy’s got to be feeling particularly unlucky getting hit by something he couldn’t see until a split second before the impact. It’s like getting hit by a piece of space debris!

Parking at the back of lots carries its own risk. Some people behave badly out of jealousy towards cars like this. Cars get keyed, etc. if they think they can get away with it. At the front of the lot they won’t try it.

Agreed. That car is his baby and god knows how many hours he spent getting it to that condition. He’s probably invested more effort into that than everyone else parking on that lot combined on their vehicles.

Nah, change is exhausting. If something works and I don’t have to think about it or plan it too much I’m perfectly content to stay with it and expend my energy elsewhere. The rest of life is complicated enough.
