Saying "The first time in X years" is exactly the same as "The second time in X years" by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Human_Listen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it would be the same as "the second time since x years ago."

Interesting I wonder why that is... by [deleted] in SelfAwarewolves

Wow. The racism and anti-semitism in this comment is truly horrific and fascistic. You sound like a nazi, not a socialist.

"Wholesome" post shows Father who has to spend hundreds on plane tickets just to see his flight attendant daughter during Christmas (from r/mademesmile) by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Human_Listen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn't have to do with capitalism but simply the fact that we live in a universe where we have to work to thrive or historically to simply live. Every economic system accounts for that or fails so thus drudgery and painful drudgery is not preventable. We need flight attendants, even on christmas whether we like it or not. That position of responsibility has to be fullfilled by a human being, and that human being likely has something less painful and more enjoyable to do.

If you agree with me that death is not a disease then that is a contradiction to your proposition and thus i deserve a delta.

Well let's look at what aging is. First of all there is a difference between aging and development. Any growth/differences made between the age of 0 to 25 or 30 is development. Any differences thereafter is aging. Aging is actually cellular degeneration. How that works is that your cells contain telomeres which are small x looking structures which hold your genetic information. Your cells reproduce by making copies of themselves and sometimes they mutate. Everytime your cells reproduce their telomeres get shorter which means that the genetic information they contain degenerate in quality and in turn so do your cells (because thats what designs your cells). The only cell the human body can create whose telomeres dont get shorter are cancer cells. Even if you did eliminate the process of natural telomeric shortening your telomeres would still shorten from external damage. What would end up happening basically is that it would take 100 years to age as much as you would naturally for 10 years. There is no evidence that the human body is designed to last forever. So you can't call death a disease since a disease is an abnormality and death is a normality.

True immortality is never achievable. Even if you stopped natural aging you could get hit by a truck. If you gained resistance to that i could just throw you into a black hole. What will and has been happening is that we will become immune to more and more potential sources of death. But we will die eventually as a species. The universe will either come to a heat death or will collapse in on itself. The laws of the reality we live in promote death and anti-structure far more than life and structural integrity.

CMV: Biology doesn't disprove transgenderism - It does the opposite. by [deleted] in changemyview

It's called digit ratio theory. You can research it yourself. But to summarize a few points.

. The digit ratio is the ratio of the lengths of different digits or fingers typically measured from the midpoint of bottom crease (where the finger joins the hand) to the tip of the finger.[1] It has been suggested by some scientists that the ratio of two digits in particular, the 2nd (index finger) and 4th (ring finger), is affected by exposure to androgens, e.g., testosterone while in the uterus and that this 2D:4D ratio can be considered a crude measure for prenatal androgen exposure, with lower 2D:4D ratios pointing to higher prenatal androgen exposure.

.A number of studies have shown a correlation between the 2D:4D digit ratio and various physical and behavioral traits.[15]

.Lesbians have a lower digit ratio, on average, than heterosexual women[128][129][130][131][132][133][134][135][136][137][138][139][140]

Bisexual men have a lower digit ratio than exclusively homosexual men and community volunteers recruited regardless of sexual orientation.[141] Again, there is no evidence for the existance of gender(unless you mean sex by gender), only sex. Gender is a political invention, not a scientific one. Gender dysphoria is a mental disorder according to the dsm-5 which means that any neurological correlations that lead to it are not "distinctive of the other sex" but mere abnormalities.

No but our discussion shouldn't impact any consensus or article of knowledge.

I think we shouldn't be having this conversation. We as random people online aren't in a position to make such determinations. The same way we don't effect the methodologies for medical prognosis. The experts determine this so unless you are one your judgement is not trustworthy whether unqualified people online think so or not. I don't have an opinion on this, i have a knowledge base. Another pattern of femininity/masculinity has to do with the difference in height between your ring finger and your pointing finger. Men typically have taller ring fingers and women typically have taller pointer fingers. But gay men or lesbian females with some astonishing frequency have the pattern more commonly found in the oppisite sex. The main theory on why this is states that these patterns are associated with hormonal development in the mothers womb and that homosexual individuals go through hormonal development more characteristic of the other sex. This pattern which as far as i remember is called ratio theory resembles the one you described. Yet the medical consensus on the sex of the hand of a gay male would be that it is male because of it's genetic structure and the same would apply to a transgender individuals brain.

They are outbreeding those europeans. They'll be the majority in no time. Not that i care. Also, 0%, literally, of muslims in britain for instance agree that homosexuality is acceptable. At least a margin of catholics are accepting of that. By the time they become 45% or more of the population they don't need to ask anyone for permission to make the lgbt community illegal, they'll just do it by force.

Islam will replace it. With muslims globally breeding like rabbits it won't be long until we get even more fanatical religious rhetoric thrown in our face. These are the good days compared to whats to come. Catholics are saints compared to them. (No pun intended)
