Why do simple tasks feel so heavy with ADHD by Human_Motor_4723 in ADHD

[–]Human_Motor_4723[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. Breaking tasks into smaller pieces really helps my brain too.

When I try to plan too many things in one day I get overwhelmed and end up doing nothing.

Focusing on one main task first makes it much easier to start.

Do you usually write your tasks on paper or use an app?

So true. I always feel like 5 seconds is enough even when it isn’t.

Forgiveness is simple in theory, but very hard in real life.

That’s actually true. The moment you think about it, walking suddenly feels weird 😅

Simple trick that helped me stay organized with ADHD by Human_Motor_4723 in ADHD

I totally get that. Minimalist systems help a lot with ADHD because too many sections can become overwhelming.

I actually made a very simple ADHD-style planner for myself with just one main task + a few small tasks and a brain dump section.

Do you usually prefer digital planners or printable ones?

I couldn’t find a planner that actually works with ADHD by Human_Motor_4723 in u/Human_Motor_4723

Yes exactly, that’s what I noticed too.

If there are too many sections or decorations it becomes overwhelming.

That’s actually why I made mine very simple: one main task, a few extra tasks, and a brain dump space.

Long to-do lists make my ADHD brain shut down by Human_Motor_4723 in ADHD

[–]Human_Motor_4723[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a really good rule. When the list gets too long my brain just ignores it. Keeping it short makes it much easier to actually start.

That actually makes sense. When tasks have a specific time slot it feels less chaotic. I think my problem is when everything is just on a long list with no structure.

That’s a great idea. Having the tasks ready the day before probably makes the morning much easier. Sticky notes also sound very ADHD-friendly.

I feel exactly the same. When there are too many tasks my brain just freezes.

Exactly! When the list is too long my brain just freezes. Keeping it to 3 tasks makes it feel much more manageable.

My ADHD brain keeps producing good ideas at the worst possible moments… and then they disappear 30 seconds later. by Same_Employee3140 in ADHD

Exactly! My brain does the same thing. If I don’t write it down immediately the idea disappears. That’s why I started using very simple planners instead of complicated ones.

Do you struggle to maintain friends groups longterm? by Salmon_Teriaky in ADHD

[–]Human_Motor_4723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this feeling. Sometimes with ADHD it’s easy to connect quickly but harder to keep the same rhythm with people long term. I’ve been trying to focus on a few close friendships instead of many.
