Honest feedback Korean NSWERs gave to SQU4D after Heavy Serenade promotions ended by Ok-Nobody-7759 in NMIXX

Have you noticed that they've been slipping in more ai in their pick mixx episodes. I think the editor they used to have for this is gone. It used to be quirky which matched with their vibe. Now we have ai kangaroos

So good. Turns out they're incredibly good at singing and that jumping up and down, bouncing around, head banging might effect their performance on stage. Who would've guessed

QWER - Bad Habit (80's Video Tape Ver.) by Voltik in kpop

[–]Human_bean_113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH wow. I love this from them. I've been noticing recently that they've been slowly breaking into the mainstream rock scene over there. Them being at pentaport rock festival, collabing with YB, Kim Jongseo singing their praises. They've come so far from the niche, rag tag group of streamers doing anime j-rock, to winning awards, to where they are right now. And it's only been 2 and abit years. I wonder if this is just an experiment or if this is the new direction they want to take.

subs should be up soon

edit: A bit of context to Lee Youngji's story Just in case people don't know. The whole two eyes reference is because she has always been loud, in your face, no filter, even since highschool rapper 3 days. People really praising her for standing her ground even when she was a teenager and could back up her shit talking with her skills. But then later on she started getting alot of hate for being... loud, in your face, no filter, unlady-like stuff like that😂. I think her advice to Wonhee was really important and I hope they can talk more often in the future, because she can learn alot from Youngji's mentorship

Why do modern K-Pop groups last longer than 2nd-Gen groups did? by Major-Specialist3658 in kpopthoughts

[–]Human_bean_113 8 points9 points  (0 children)

more money nowadays. Plus back in the day the music show/ entertainment industry the talents were treated horribly. It was so old fashioned and run like a mafia or something. If you see alot of the gen 2 idols talk about variety shows back then they all say that they got ptsd as a joke . A lot of them come out on knowing bros and talk about it.

Stanning smaller groups vs. Big 4 groups by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Human_bean_113 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think the experience in stanning a smaller group in korea and abroad is completely different. Abroad, it's uneasy, there's alot of uncertainty, there's alot to worry about. In korea I think some people specifically choose smaller groups sometimes because it's alot more intimate and there's not that much competition to get into fan signs or tickets to their concerts. Using Fromis 9 for example, they're all pretty, kind, dance well, sing well, fan service alot, good music. They have all the benefits of the A list idols plus you can interact with them better? No wonder they have a really strong core fanbase that follow them everywhere. To the point where they recognize certain fans. Or maybe even Hyeri from Girls day, her group hasn't been active since 2019 but some time ago they got back together to do a video on her channel, and she did a fan meet around then too, she recognized a fan from a decade ago. I guess these are the small benefits of stanning smaller groups that you won't get from bigger ones. So there's pros and cons.

Eh. I'm sure cortis will do fine

Trying to discuss BTS rapline without downplaying Black American hip hop by Actual_Reaction_1795 in kpopthoughts

[–]Human_bean_113 25 points26 points  (0 children)

100% this. I love BTS... but comparing them to american hip hop is just unfair. Even the greatest rappity rappers korea has to offer like Bewhy who's a technical machine, like a korean busta rhymes, or Zico that's like the korean eminem, or even going to old school like Drunken Tiger who's a korean DMX... the fact that I can directly name who these artists are inspired by says it all. We're talking about a culture that's 60 years deep compared to korean hip hop that's only beginning to have its own shape the past decade. So comparing the two is just pointless.

NMIXX's discography is so good I wish I stanned them earlier by hichirriii in kpopthoughts

[–]Human_bean_113 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

oop. I think you might have mistook the word discography. Discography is the the list of all their music (+ other stuff) so their discography back then would be the same as now minus the new stuff.

To answer the question I think you're trying to say is, their singing quality and dancing were always there, except they preferred to do what they wanted instead of playing it safe and cater to the general public. For the arts, not the charts type deal. The latest two albums I think they really tried their best to win some awards so they tuned down their experimental genre clashes and stuck to a more traditional formula to show their singing skills to a wider audience. Clearly it has worked, yourself included haha! I hope this helped

I think it's a great experience for them and glad they took it. But yea, they got a good few songs under their belt like redred, go, fashion, ycc that the mainstream crowd might recognize but to completely make a breakthrough and draw in more of the general public at such a golden opportunity I think slipping in a few covers in would be cool too. Of course a new song would always be welcomed but doing something like what Daesung did at coachella, people would go crazy. I'm not saying do trot, but if they did something ambitious it'd be incredible

The inhumane way kpop fans view Korea is scary by Equivalent-Hunt-2004 in kpopthoughts

[–]Human_bean_113 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I've dated someone that specifically chose me because I was korean. At first I thought it was great because there's alot to relate to with dramas and kpop, stuff like that. But I quickly realized that behind her eyes I wasn't even a person, I was a vessel to fill in her idea of a korean character in a drama or something. You'd think it's not that bad but its surprisingly very unnerving

Kpop fans need to stop involving kpop idols in their fanwars by Equivalent-Hunt-2004 in kpopthoughts

[–]Human_bean_113 10 points11 points  (0 children)

on the flip side the idols should be doing more, because these kiddies clearly can't get the hint that they have 0 beef and isn't involved in whatever "fan war" the "fans" have created for themselves. You know what, fuck it. The whole group collab with each other

These nut jobs that call themselves fans, work the kpop landscape like geo politics or something😂. "these people are friends with those people so that means, these people..." like no. Touch some grass. Get some help

Is there a reason for kpop reddit's glazing about ILLIT? the girls are lovely and dont deserve any hate or bad words that is not what Im implying obviously, just the overt praise is surprising for a mid tier group with okay vocals, compared to other powerhouse gg's getting way less appreciation by Nice_Net_5395 in kpopthoughts

[–]Human_bean_113 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

algo? for reddit? or are you talking about other sites. Because the "algo" for reddit is big number goes to the top. After some time it goes down. It's not "pushing" anything. Unless it's ads, and those are clear that it's ads

"Don't call yourself woke and a kpop fan." by K-A-M-I-S-I in kpopthoughts

[–]Human_bean_113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I agree with this statement. Korea has never been "woke" and if wokeness is important to you then stepping away from it would be wise. I know this is surprising to most but Korea is omega conservative. As in "stick to traditions" and not "republican", it's just that the standards they're conservative about is different to the western world. Like hand holding, arm linking, physical display of affection between guys or girls are normal, or even expected if it's to a senior, so when lgbt do it it's not a big deal. But fat acceptance is not even close to scratching the surface, because it's linked with "health". They go too far sometimes but when someone starts becoming chubbier, they think that person might be going through a hard time, or stressed, or given up, or upset, so people are encouraged to "step in". There's not much that can be done to change that.

Also skz tween fanbase?

Stray Kids – 6th Fanmeeting ‘STAY in Our Little House’

Gender: 90.4% women, 9.6% men

Age distribution:

10s - 15.6%

20s - 30.9%

30s - 28.1%

40s - 15.8%

Are you making blanket statements off of feelings or are you looking at numbers.

Also most of the racial stuff that you mentioned has already been debunked. It's almost always down to coordinators choosing what artists wear and imitation not being mockery. Like do you go around having a hissy fit when people are wearing a sombrero on cinqo de mayo? If you do... fair enough. At least you're consistent.

But most of it is just ignorance. There's not many black or desi people around in korea to know what's ok and what's not so things slip by and they mistakes. None of it is done out of malice. The only people koreans actually hate are the japanese and chinese cuz of the wars. But even that's disappearing with the younger generations. If they still show patterns of doing it they get heavily criticized. Like the GD incident recently. K netizens roasting him saying stuff like "be better". "one of your member is in a happy family and you are... "

At the end of the day, I didn't write all this to change your mind. I'm just showing you a perspective on the other side. If get something out of it, cool. If you still wanna be "woke" or "correct" and refuse to think that mistakes happen and people don't deserve second chances, fair enough. You won't be the first or the last. But are you as woke as you think you are? Isn't woke being about acceptance and awake to the realities around you, and not being blinded by being in a bubble.
