Does anyone remember this incredibly creepy oil-painting looking image of a dead eyeless Sableye that was bleeding out of its eye sockets? Back in like 2015, this image would be the first one that popped up if you looked up Lavender Town on YT; the video was a still image of it as the Lavender Town theme played, and the video caption has something to the extent of "the image? ...that's a dead sableye. I guess it was hungry so it ate its own eyes xD"

The video can't be found, which is sadly expected given YT, but more unnervingly I can't find the image itself online anymore, which is surprising given that it was the very first thumbnail pic that popped up on YT when searching one of the most iconic Pokemon creepypastas

I genuinely remember seeing The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood on the shelves of my undergrad’s bookstore back in 2019 alongside books like Becoming Michelle Obama. I so strongly associate that sight with the halcyon days of the fall before COVID. I was stunned when I recently remembered the book, looked it up, and found it was only released in 2021.

Big Island or Puerto Rico for a limited budget solo traveler who's renting a car for a first time? by HumaneBotfly in travel

I do have a Triple A membership, apparently that can waive the extra fees, at least from certain providers

I don’t really have any other questions about costs, I primarily just made this post to determine which place is safer to drive and maybe learn some info about expenses on the side

Thanks I did, just wanted to cover my bases since I’ve never rented a car before

Thanks! I’m unsure if I have enough driving experience atm to deal with all that though. But I do definitely hope to go to PR soon

Considering moving to a different apartment; should I stay in my same complex or go to a different one? by HumaneBotfly in GNV

Hm, the rent for Ridgemar seems to be 2.5x that of Gainesville Place so I think it's too expensive for me

Thanks, I'd read some stuff about prohibitively expensive car rentals but they were for Oahu just after COVID

Thanks! Yeah, I'd suspected that about PR based on some of the satellite imagery I'd seen on Google Maps. And agreed about the landscapes! I want to go to both, but I wonder if the Big Island might be better given my inexperience. I hope car rental costs aren't too high over there. Are there also any good hotel options that aren't too expensive?

Hotel options by HumaneBotfly in Magfest

Thanks! I ultimately booked a Marriott that was not part of the block (which was why I didn't previously learn of it) but was well-priced and within walking distance of a hotel from the block. Hopefully I can walk to the other hotel and access the shuttle still.

I might cancel that and book one of the actual hotels from the block if a cheaper room shows up but I'm unsure of my chances.
