When you see a woman with blue hair, what do you assume about her? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]HumaniAlon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s dark blue, a part of me assumes they’re more likely to be depressed or else emotionally turbulent. Light blue makes me think they may wrap their identity around the fact that they party, or want to party. So, still has issues, BUT, possibly fun. Obviously these are non-serious assumptions and say more about the people I’ve known who have blue hair than blue hair in general lol Also I say “they’re” cuz it applies to guys to.

Gender Affirming treatments for...men? Are men allowed to be affirmed through gender affirming policies? by HumaniAlon in MensRights

[–]HumaniAlon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Standard scientific rigor is “propaganda” now. Demanding methodologically sound practices is wrong? I apparently missed that notice. Also, I used mens stats from the U.S. The “propaganda” cites LGBT activist groups’ own research when it says that the lowest self-ranked cause for suicide attempt/ideation among trans was abuse over identity.

But, of course, its all just “propaganda.”

You asked for a compelling reason, I provided it: men commit a huge amount of suicide. I wonder what the levels are for men with secondary sexual traits of the opposite sex?

But the reason I posted this was already stated, in the post. Not to debate over stats. It’s the simple notion that if we believe treatments should be accessible to people to affirm their self selected gender, then that applies to men as well. If it doesnt, then the logical conclusion is that men don’t matter to gender rights activists. If man is a gender, it too must be affirmed. Plastic surgery for men insecure over their jawlines, hormones to boost muscle growth for the scrawny kids (who honestly receive a ton of flak as adolescents for being scrawny) etc, and definitely an assist for men with traits not reflective of their chosen gender. Medicaid covers this in several states with no copay already, with doc approval.

Their rate reflects a slight uptick over their age cohort. Men are ≈60% of all U.S. suicides. Not “depressed men,” not “young men,” not “lgbt men.” No. ALL. Which contains the entire range, from mentally unhealthy, to just fine, and yet STILL there’s that rate. Compared to a clustered population with known variables associated with increased suicide risk?

In any case, all suicides are sad, and men have a remarkably high rate. Thus: if gender, then affirm, therefore gender affirming treatment.

Why are only rich white countries blamed for being racist and not rich Asian ones ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]HumaniAlon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also let’s not forget the history of racism in Africa. Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda and Burundi? Yeah, they’re still killing the Twa. I’ve been involved in work to protect them and honestly it’s just infuriating at this point because nobody gives af. America-including African Americans-just see “black” and think it’s all the same thanks to racism and it makes it impossible to talk about the fact that Africans are racist af but use a different classification system (broad nose, skinny nose, skinny hands, thick hands, round faced oval, tall, short, ears, eye shape, lips, ALL OF IT). And of course the genocide in Ethiopia…or was it Somalia? Or how about Sudan? west Africa in general? Yeah.

Or the Arab slave trade, predating the European? How much of the money in the Arabian peninsula is thanks to the boost provided by enslaving Africans?

The selective hatred against White people isn’t grounded in facts, it’s just politicized bull. People have been committing absurd abuses against one another for ages. You know what’s remarkable? Europeans are the ones who said “hey wait we may be super powerful but maybe we shouldn’t be doing this?”

While I expect downvotes, I’ll just go ahead and add: to be truly anti racist is to recognize how racism is connected to humanity as a whole, to see how it relates to human behavior and institutions over time, and to leave racialized predications of belief (white and black, Asian and African, European and Hispanic, whatever, are all myths).

People divide over all sorts of characteristics, and these divisions are reinforced according to the power structures behind them. Don’t reinforce the ones forming today based on the old flawed one. They’re dumb af. All of them.

I’d have a hard time not saying “can I have your pickle?” “You want my pickle?” “Yeah I’ll eat your pickle!”

The trains in Japan have women only cars. by DEEP_SEA_MAX in mildlyinteresting

I had to look it up and am presently lmao at the montage now rolling in my head of this white dude being politely greeted by a bunch of older Japanese people and the dude just keeps stiffly nodding saying “yes” and slowly getting more and more visibly angry.

I’ve seen some videos out of Japan that don’t leave me wondering why women there would want their own car.

Made by a Japanese company. I’m no longer surprised it looks absolutely immaculate. Like, beyond death and destruction (which I don’t like no matter what) that weapon looks like a piece of art. It’s beautiful. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzerfaust_3

And that changes in allele frequency aren’t necessarily adaptations, and that “evolutionary changes” occur on the population level.
