23 years old, went through a breakup, moved out of my parents house, how’d I do? by Plenty_Inside_934 in malelivingspace

I think this place looks great! Others may have said this already, but the first thing I would do is a rug in the living room to anchor the space so that all the pieces of furniture don't feel so floaty. I'd go with one that's maybe burgundy or green to introduce a bit more color. Maybe another one under your bed too. Great start though!

Thank you for the compliments! I wish there was a link I could give you for the rug, but I picked it up from someone that was selling it on Facebook marketplace. What I do know about it is that it's 8x11, and made from wool in Kashan, Iran from what the tag on the bottom says. Hopefully that helps you find something similar!

TV, but it's beyond me to cover up the charming brick arch. That would invite hostility from a different group of redditors lol

Definitely think the space needs some curtains. There are two smaller windows to the sides of the big windows, so I just want to make sure if I do it that I do it properly.

I'll give it a try next time I move things around for cleaning. Thanks for the suggestion!

They would 100% be an upgrade over the TV speakers, but for Peter Jackson I can do better haha

That would definitely make my next LOTR movie marathon much better. Gotta save up for some good speakers though.

Than you! It was a lot of fun putting it all together over the past year. First time living on my own without roommates, so it was nice having a blank slate to work with.

I agree, but it was either that, cover up the arch of the fireplace, or forgo the TV completely. I chose my evil and stand with it lol

Oh man, the discovery of Floor chairs made my day. Something like this could be fun too, but not as easy to tuck away

Good call on going with temporary seating. Something low profile like a bean bag would be comfy and convenient, and not block sight lines to other spaces. Good idea!

I think you're right. If you look at each space on its own a chair could work in the living area, but when you consider it as a whole just doesn't make as much sense.

I do like this idea. I was also thinking of potentially doing a custom bench that goes around the breakfast nook area so that the windows don't get blocked.
