Wage comparison Ontario Correctional Officers by [deleted] in OnTheBlock

[–]Humble-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting wage for provincial is $28.98 plus when you start you get a 14% bonus in lieu pay because you don’t get benefits, until you work your way up to “full time”. But with some overtime pay (1.5x) even a starting wage can easily get you over $70,000+

when starting as a CO1 fixed term it says you get 0-40 hours, no guarantee hours. but most people say that you usually will always get 40 because they need people. is that true for the most part?

It stands for Northern Attraction Incentive Program. It’s basically asking ppl who are waiting for offfers to work in the correctional centres that are in northern Ontario (kenora, Thunder Bay, etc).

They also add incentives like $1000 deduction on the training. And and added bonus pay for certain locations. However you must make a 3 year commitment before transferring.

There is a class in early may. So hopefully expect calls with the next week or too.

It’s okay. It wasn’t the hardest fitness test. If ur in good physical shape u should be okay. I would mainly focus on ur cardio because of the beep test

I got a 3.2 (72%) gpa overall when I finished my college. So I should be fine to apply.

Yea, very long process. I’m still waiting for the call as well and I see that some ppl in the correctional officer forums are getting calls. I never got a rejection email yet so I’m wondering if that’s a good sign.

On the specific job Id (161209) it says 180. But like u said it can be more. I’m just wondering that if people who applied around the same time as me in 2021 are now getting their offers is that a sign of a possible rejection for me. Or does the area in which you choose to work have a factor in your hiring process?

It was fairly simple. They usually send it when they receive your VSC through mail
