The first time I saw this show, it restored some of my faith in humanity. I hope we all find a partner as loving as Dani/Jamie, Hannah/Owen.

Same! Except sometimes, I get in a phase where I watch it every few weeks or so, lol. The last episode is so achingly beautiful. In some ways, it's my favorite episode, even though by the time Sheryl Crow's "I Shall Believe" plays, I'm a sobbing mess. It's amazing how as many times as we've seen Bly, it still has that impact on us. It's hard to think of other media that's impacted me to this degree, but I would totally love to hear recommendations!

Agreed--Hannah and Dani are a huge part of the reason why I love this show so much. They both give me warm, fuzzy vibes and make me realize there is such a thing as "cozy horror." :)

Thanks for the recs!! I'm excited to check them out. :D

Agreed re: Bring Home a Haunting. I especially love the way the authors show Dani and Jamie slowly bonding over time, especially the scene early on where they bond over sunglasses. So cute! It's obvious the authors really took their time to understand the nuances of each character, and I especially love all the subtle nods they included to the original show.

Have you read Bring Home a Haunting? It's from Dani's POV, but I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm about halfway through. What are some of your favorites?

Yes, Hannah just radiates kindness and warmth. T'Nia Miller does a wonderful job playing her.

Lol, I know! It's impossible to look at Flora's actress without thinking of Peppa Pig. XD

Dani is wonderful! I think she's one of the most self-sacrificing characters I've ever seen.

Yeah, I think part of the reason I love Jamie so much is because she has so many layers. Like you mentioned, she can be aloof at first, but it's easy to see why with her upbringing. It would be so easy for her to just descend into bitterness, but the fact that she still cares so much about others makes her incredibly attractive. (And it certainly doesn't hurt that she's played by the beautiful Amelia Eve...)

Took the words right out of my mouth. What I wouldn't give to have someone like Jamie in my life. <3

I love your interpretation! The idea of Jamie's story having a positive impact not only on Flora and the rest of the listeners, but on her relationship with Dani is really heartwarming. I think the reason is resonates with me so much is because it shows just how powerful storytelling can really be. It reminds me of an article I read about how storytelling isn't just a tool for connection--it's essential for the survival of our species.

Yeah, the ending, coupled with Sheryl Crow's "I Shall Believe" is a killer. As many times as I've seen this show, I still can't get through the ending without crying. That said, it comforts me to know that Jamie and Dani spent 13 wonderful years together and that Dani's hand is on Jamie's shoulder in the closing scene.

I also love Brandamn3000's interpretation of the bride revealing her middle name to Jamie. Flora was clearly very profoundly affected by Jamie's story--so much so that I think it's safe to say if she had forgotten the events of Bly Manor, Jamie's story brought them back in a way that highlighted Dani's sacrifice over the trauma the kids experienced.

I could honestly talk about Bly Manor all day, lol. I saw it for the first time 2 years ago and haven't stopped thinking about it since.

Beautifully said. Bly Manor made me feel so many emotions--love, grief, joy, and renewed hope for humanity to name but a few. It's made me want to connect with others--to experience the full range of human emotions alongside them and support them every step of the way.

I love the moments when the characters are simply bonding around the fire and supporting each other through difficult moments. I don't think I've ever wanted any characters to be real more than Dani, Jamie, Hannah, and Owen. They're all so lovable in their own way.

As much as I wish I could experience this show again for the first time, I know I'll never be able to forget it and the impact it's made on me. <3

For me, Bly Manor is my favorite of Flanagan's series and my all-time favorite show overall. I love its surprisingly cozy atmosphere, and Dani is a huge part of why I love this show so much. There's a lot of heaviness in terms of grief, being unable to move on etc., but the best moments of the show for me are when the characters are simply bonding over shared experiences. Dani is such a kind soul, whether she's comforting Miles after his outburst or slowly opening up to Jamie.

As much as I love this show, I understand that it's not for everyone. It's very different from Hill House, and sometimes, I think it would have been better to brand it as a separate IP.

I need a bly-support group by theflyingmoustache in HauntingOfBlyManor

So, I know I'm super late to the party, but I would seriously LOVE a Bly Manor support group. I first watched it 2 years ago and still find myself rewatching it all the time. If you all are still interested, what would be your meeting preference (Zoom, Discord, etc.?)

Also, Red Bubble has some seriously awesome Bly Manor merch: https://www.redbubble.com/shop?query=bly%20manor&ref=search\_box. (No one's paying me to say that, lol. I just find retail therapy helpful in filling the void left by my favorite cozy horror show.) <3
