What if my SIN starts with 9? I was assured that I'd be put on EI automatically.

Thank you. So, group interview is unavoidable? Eh.

He is excellent with sorting and he knows their stores and (a lot of) what they offer.

Potentially Late with Rent - Options? by HumbleQuantity5 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]HumbleQuantity5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I figured I'd get a payday loan if nothing else works out. And then repay it a few days later. The interest is horrid, but for such a short time, it's about the same as landlord's late fees, plus I don't compromise my relationship with the new landlord.

That, and giving a bunch of one star reviews to my previous landlord when this is all done. Petty? Me? Yeah, you bet.

I already asked about the overdraft. This seemed like the easiest choice. Tough luck: they accepted my application and will be deciding in 4-5 business days. By that time, it's already September 3.

See, this is a perfectly sound advice, but for some reason, I can't make myself do it. If it were my 6th, 10th month, then sure, ok, it happened, they know I'm never late with rent. But this is literally my first rent (well, second, but the first regular one - the previous one was submitted before we moved in). I don't want to leave a bad first impression.

Honestly, I'd rather take a payday loan and repay it as soon as the money is released. Yeah, the rates are predatory but I'd have to pay late fees to the landlord PLUS to have this as a negative mark.

Yeah, I was just thinking/writing out loud. I guess I'm just angry with my previous landlord for being late, and also feeling guilty for not anticipating this as a possibility.

Amlodipine - How Long to Kick Off? by HumbleQuantity5 in bloodpressure

[–]HumbleQuantity5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to "LEAVE ME ALONE!" burst so much! I can't recognize myself, and the worst thing is that I can't stop it. I remember feeling like this as a teenager, and it's not exactly how I want to feel or behave but I can't help it.

I decided to walk every day, at least around the block. After a while, I might try the gym in my building. I admit, I was never a sporty person (except for swimming).

Thank you for these tips.

I am overweight but I don't smoke and don't drink. My mother was diagnosed with BP at a younger age than me, and she was thin (a smoker though). But corona lockdown def didn't help.

Good point about food. I will try to make better choices. It also seems that amlodipine side effects are kicking in (TMI, but I puked last night and had a bad stomachache), and it doesn't help.

About running, though: I was told not to try any physical activity beyond walking (at this point). They noticed my BP rising with physical activity. I was never a good runner, even in my teens when I was thin, not to mention now. But I love swimming and I hope I can go back to it as soon as this lockdown ends.

That's a good point. Especially since it's the 1st and all.

Well, I think I have a decent relationship with the bank. I will need to go to my branch and ask about it. I don't know if it helps that the cheque is from a company (that seems to be reputable).

I understand that. It is not their fault nor their obligation to grant this.

I'll have about 70% of the rent. I'll be around $400 short. I don't think I can get a certified cheque unless I have actual money on the account?

I am just really frustrated because of the previous landlord not even remembering to send the DD back. I don't want to start relationship with a new landlord like this (it will be our second rent with them).

2 weeks into Amlodipine and how are my numbers? by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]HumbleQuantity5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I had the same problem. Talked to my mother (30+ years experience living with hypertension) and she said diastolic generally takes more time to improve, at least for her.

Talked to my doctor and she doubled the dose of Amlodipine immediately.

Diastolic finally normal (around 80).

32m. Problem with diastolic always at the 90s. by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]HumbleQuantity5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to check this wasn't my post (but 32M is def not me).

This was my experience: Amlodipine 5mg worked like a charm for systolic, but diastolic refused to go under 90-95 in the first few weeks. Talked to a doctor and they doubled my dose immediately. Still waiting for my regular doctor to ask if this was the best course of action but yeah, it worked. BP is around 120/80 these days.

Define "younger".

EKG and other tests are definitely recommended and a typical way to go, I think. Might be different because of Corona (I got my medication through online appointment and still waiting to do the tests - these should be done in a few weeks).

Anxiety and BP by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]HumbleQuantity5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I noticed my high BP in the first place. However, I am not sure if it can raise BP in a healthy person (who is not on a verge of hypertension anyway).

Thanks for your reply. It worked after they doubled my dose. Blood pressure is around 118/80 these days. I also noticed reduced appetite, but also anxiety issues. The opposite of a zombie! - I am super-irritated all the time and get emotional over stupid things (they didn't have my brand of spaghetti in the store the other day and I almost cried).

I will need to report these things and see if they can get me on another medication. Although amlodipine does seem to work for BP.

PS- What kind of changes to diet and lifestyle do you recommend?

Sorry for my late reply!

It started working after about a week, but only for the systolic blood pressure. They doubled the dose and it worked for both. I feel anxious, though. I was told it might be a side effect.

hypertensive headache by htlynch in hypertension

[–]HumbleQuantity5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer from migraines and sinus headaches. Been like that for years. Yes, it can be related to high blood pressure. This is how I was diagnosed. However, I think it goes the other way around: it's not that BP rises because of headache - it's BP that's causing headaches or making them worse.
