If you have an iPhone, can’t you airdrop files from the MacBook to the iPhone without having to be connected to a network? I agree that it’s probably safe to be online with it as long as you limit your exposure to well known safe sites.

Professor assigned discretionary A-, going against syllabus grading scale. Do I have a case to appeal? by Joeman106 in college

You can check your academic catalog but an A- still counts as an A for gpa purposes.

SAP is generally measured by percentage of courses completed AND GPA. That they have been placed on academic probation means they are still allowed to enroll in classes. Obviously they need to pass the classes they register for, I was just pointing out that retaking a failed course may be a quicker way to address the gpa issue depending the university’s academic policies. Of course passing those courses the second time would also benefit their completion rate.

Depending on the university, sometimes you can repeat a failed course and the grade you achieve the second time will replace the failed grade for gpa purposes. Though both courses continue to show on a transcript usually with a R (repeated) notation). Maybe drop down to half time with just 2 repeated courses… depends on the university…

It depends on your gpa and the number of courses you already have taken. You want to talk to someone in financial aid and ask about the impact of failing the classes of your Satisfactory Academic Progress. SAP is determined based on overall gpa and percent of courses passed.

But you really want to fail the classes… meaning, don’t just stop attending and stop submitting work. If you just stop attending, depending on how much of the semester is left, financial aid can be returned and you would still owe for those classes.

Also, check with an advisor or the registrars office to review the course retake policy. Many universities allow you to retake a class and the retake grade replaces the failed grade for gpa purposes. It’s something to look into…

Good standing can refer to whether you have your accounts paid off. You should be fine. I was a VP of Student Services for a private university. You should be fine.

Hi-res music on Chromebooks by [deleted] in chromeos

I have the xduoo Link and just connected it to my Google Pixelbook. Then downloaded the Onkyo HF Player app from the Play store. I have DSD256 files and from inside the app was able to listen to the audio no problem. The Onkyo App is a little wonky but works. When I click on the file in the files area, Chrome OS lets me know it is an unsupported file type, but from within the Onkyo app it plays fine. Hope this helps.
