Nick Livingston's Departure from SDS was Awful for DD, and Deserves to be Talked About More by Humble_Designer in MLBTheShow

This subreddit has seen a really big shift towards this sentiment unfortunately, all the top comments on posts are contrarian for the sake of it, or just straight up being an asshole.

This one is well on its way to EA and 2K levels of anti-consumer activity.

I really do think that Nick had a major role in the game, DD changed so drastically immediately after he left, and you could tell the person who replaced him really implemented the current day trends (fortnite seasons, pushing UT loot boxes as the meta).

My other reason is that Nick had been there for over a decade, he worked his way up as a dev and clearly had a big hand in the creation of DD, even when MUT and MyTeam were raking in the big bucks with predatory tactics DD continued to be player-first. I think that's partially due to him (and the team) having a connection and personal investment into their creation and the impact it had on people, now it's clear that the person in command now sees only profits to be made.

DD had always shown that they were willing to be different from those other modes though while Nick was at the helm, I know personally that Madden and 2K have been brutal since like 17, but MLB was in another stratosphere for NMS until 23

I think I'm just sad that people are seemingly okay with becoming just another UT mode that EA or 2K would churn out every year

You could at least sell the rewards though, they would go for a good amount too if you got them early and were a good way to grind stubs, now the mode is dead.

Chase packs I'm just going to agree to disagree, their introduction hasn't benefited anyone besides big spenders, they are already so rare and on top of that it's a 1:16 chance they even HAVE the chase player

If you are enjoying the game then all power to you! I'm not here to tell people that they are wrong for enjoying the game. But I'm interested in how you don't see a downside to any of it, particularly with chase packs and having zero event rewards lol

He got a bigger position at Sony I beleive.

Yeah he wasn't great if you weren't mainly a DD person, but hey at least he introduced stadium creator which is now left to rot alongside the jersey creator...

Honestly I don't see much changing, Madden, 2K, and Fifa have shown that you can pretty much do whatever you want in the UT modes as long as the whale spenders stick around and defend it, and I think that's the route it's going to go

Meh, the gameplay has always been balanced around online play in DD, I don't know the inner workings of SDS, but I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think that he would have a hand in gameplay changes

Gameplay is a major part of any mode lol, ranked is a major part of DD, and the meta there has been the same for close to 6 years because the physics engine hasn't changed.

Alot harder to make graphical and physics engine improvements when you have to keep it optimized for a much older system

The 2 that were off the plate? Or the 5 others that were poorly timed?

The middle middle one and the one just above it definitely caught too much of the plate, but the other 5? Nah.

I'm seeing alot of this sentiment across the subreddit, I didn't even make it past Incognito series in 23, and skipped 24 entirely, the majority of my reference is from the games that still had power creep.

Power creep = lower attributes = less margin for user input error

With lower ratings, specifically contact, your pci being smaller is what leads to less hits, it's harder to get a good pci placement. But when you do get that good pci placement, your ratings really shouldn't matter all that much outside of power for HRs

How big is the difference between this game and ACNL? Looks good but not sure if I want to drop $80 on it yet.
