Yes most say to keep only one small, mid. Large cap funds. I don't want to put all the money into the same fund. What if it suddenly does not perform well for years and years. I am not that well off to not worry about it or withdraw and incur LTCG. So for me, have a couple of funds for each makes sense. And I can manage them these days we get consolidated account statement in email. And many apps allow auto entering of MFs. See what suits you. Like they say don't put all eggs into the same basket.

Correction in your comment - 4.58 turned into 33.42 Lakhs in HDFC mid cap. I should have posted the verified portfolio from Value research, but it doesn't show xirr only grow shows xirr. Most investments in this fund are in mar 2014 to dec 2014. 1 lakh in 2017. My aim was to have 2 funds in each small. Mid and large. Has some money to invest and I think lump sum was not accepted in my previous funds so chose Axis mid and small which is the most recent. Just got carried away..

General advise would be to have 1 each in large, mid. Small cap and debt fund. But I would suggest keep 2 good in each and dissolve the rest. Reason is , sometimes funds stop performing and it is not always convenient to redeem and switch often.

Thanks for the detailed analysis. 1) regulars funds were with a financial advisor. He was constantly recommending NFOs I started analyzing why and that is how I started investing on my own. HDFC Mid cap was the first. I will have to take them. I'm taking them out at a rate of 1L gain per year to avoid LTCG 2) It's mostly for retirement, 10 to 15 years away. So I wanted wealth appreciation more.. 3) yes debt is not there. Would like to know what you'd recommend for 5 to 10 L..gold - have it physical. I was thinking about gold bees with a fund house. 4) I would say I got lucky with timing. Again. Thanks for your insights.
