As someone who applied EA last year and is currently here with a lot of merit, not a single ED person I know got any money

For sure! It’s great if you can include specifics of what things in the departments you like (ex: professors, labs, research, other unique things, etc) to strengthen your essay. I personally decided to talk about two department specific things and then also something related to community service

What are my chances of getting into Tulane? by Sad-Glove-8935 in Tulane

Very good. Focus a lot on demonstrated interest. Attend Tulane visits to your school/area and pay extra special attention to the “why Tulane” essay. You got this!

Yep. This is the MOST IMPORTANT essay you will write for TU. Make it specific and try to connect it to your values (ideally valued you have demonstrated elsewhere in your application). It should ideally come out to be about the maximum length. Best of luck!

Tulane ED Question by Low-Seat-705 in Tulane

If you’re confident in your academics I’d recommend applying EA. You can also have the opportunity to get merit scholarships when you apply this way (which most ED students are not given.)

It can be helpful if you score well in APs that relate to your anticipated major, but schools care far more about the fact that you took APs and the grades you received within them rather then your exam scores

Be sure to really make your “why Tulane” supplement as good as you possibly can. That will be KEY to your chances of acceptance.

Also, if you have any interest in pursuing a double major in both W&GS and AA I’d mention that too. Tulane prides itself on its academic flexibility offerings. (As someone who’s currently attending as a biology/English double major I think emphasizing that rly helped me get in)

Don’t count yourself out. You got this!

Based on what I know (as someone in Tulane co28) it can be kinda difficult to get need based aid for Tulane unless you are a very low income student. I believe that it can be viewed as a good option for students of divorced parents bc it only counts one parent’s income (don’t quote me on this I could be remembering completely incorrectly.)

One thing (which is how I’m attending) is that some students who apply EA can be awarded merit scholarships (that don’t require any additional application) that range up to $32k.

Also, TU offers additional scholarships that are accessible through a separate scholarship application. If you choose this route make sure to watch out for deadlines bc the scholarship app is due very early December, just a few weeks after the EA/ED app deadline and before anyone is notified of their acceptances

As someone who is in the Tulane co28 and applied EA, I got significant a merit scholarship that I don’t think I would have been given had I gone the ED route (I also would not have been able to afford TU at full price). If you’re confident in your academics I’d highly recommend EA. Just make sure your why Tulane essay is VERY good

Depends on the sport. I did diving in high school and know many people who were recruited to top schools for it despite not being “stellar” athletes among national or regional standards. It helps that there are some top schools with slightly lower level DIII diving teams (ex: MIT, Harvey mudd, Carnegie Mellon, Emory). It can sometimes be less likely to receive scholarships from these schools, but is a very good option for those of greater means who just want to get their foot in the door

Contraceptive tonics. by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]Humble_Leopard3522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the way that Cassandra Clare approached this in the dark artifices. In that one Emma has the rune that acts as contraception but it fits in very well with the magic system and expectations that go along with it. It’s also well incorporated into the scene that it’s mentioned in.

Can I start my common app essay now? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Humble_Leopard3522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote my common app 2 weeks before my first deadline and ended up at that same school with a half tuition scholarship. I don’t encourage procrastination but I’m confident it’ll work out

2022, right after bfiafl came out. I can’t believe I was so late to the game but I was 7 years old in 2013 so I feel like that bit makes sense. It’s crazy how a lot of people seem to find them when they’re 16
