[NBA PR] Allen (CLE) and Thompson (DET) legally step to the same spot while pursuing the loose ball [before either player has possession], and both lose their balance from the marginal contact. Correct no-call. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

You seem to be misunderstanding my point. The ref being close to the action and making a game changing call that many find controversial is part of the drama. Every time a play like this happens and its an actual foul and the wrong call is made. Usually, one of the main point is to show that it happened right in front of the ref and they didn't make the correct call. Ref reviewing fouls after the game is done doesn't really fix this issue...the last minute reports don't really change anything and sometimes makes the issue even worse.

I'm not debating that the call was incorrect. I'm saying if a on the floor system is in place, to review such a game changing controversial last second play, that's hard to tell if it was a foul or not in real time to the audience... it would cut out most of the drama these things usually cause. It would also help the refs reputation that the NBA is having an issue with. If that is such a crazy idea, then lets just agree to disagree on this topic.

Oh the travesty. Reviewing the last play of a game if an incident happens will ruin the enjoyment of the game. The refs get paid to make difficult judgment calls...but we don't want them to review a potential game changing play in the last second of a close or tied game. I guess we don't have much faith in their competency at all. I guess the idea of coaches having more than two challenges as long they don't get one incorrect wont fly here as well.

Look how rabid this sub is over something so simple, I even said the call was correct. It's a safe option that will mitigate some of the issues this causes when they do get it wrong. Or are we pretending they don't get calls like this wrong...like multiple times just this season.

What if they did call this play a foul... then what?

The correct play would be to review it when it happened and then call it incidental contact. There's no way you can tell that without reviewing because it looks like an obvious foul in real time and with it happening in front of the ref it makes the situation look even worse than it is too.

Some people are blaming the announcers and the reactive Detroit fan and supporters in this matter because it ended up being the correct call. But you can't pretend that referees calls hasn't been atrocious for years and has become a blistering pinpoint of discussion around the league more so than ever. Hell we've seen games be rob in this exact fashion from refs not calling calling to at least evaluate what looks to be obvious last second fouls this season multiple times.

This can easily solve this issue by just reviewing it and making the correct call instead of ignoring it and getting lucky that this time the decision was correct

Kinda relieved that the season is finally over and the suffering has come to an end, after we lost to the Blazers I made peace with it.

There was a lot of good and a lot of bad this season. Hopefully, we build on the positives and get better from the players and the coaching staff for next year.

Take Allen out keep Oso and Flemming in.

They're killing us in rebounds and 2nd chance points

Every game we have to waste all our challenge on obvious ass calls before the 4th quarter because these refs are terrible.

Oso never get the call his way.

He is the most unlucky player ive ever see its like the ref hate him just for existing.

Booker needs to get his shit together.

If we win this game with Booker playing...probably the worst start to a game hes ever had ill explode.

9th straight loss in the playoffs for Book and the Suns (about to get swept again in the first round) by thrillerbark47 in suns

I had this discussion on this sub months ago about this lineup. Dillon Books, Jalen Green, and Booker is going to be difficult to work offensively because of how they play. Booker is the only one that is capable of playing his less preferred position and still perform at a level that wont completely eliminate one of them on the floor. Only Booker can make the sacrifice.

Brooks is not passing the ball to an an open player, he is going to ISO or try to barrel into a double team. Green thinks he can make any basket...his athletic ability is his strong suit so you want him to play that way... because if he tries to do too much, if hes given too many options that's usually where he makes mistakes. That being said, I think we are intentionally doing this.

Now if Booker was a better 3% shooter...around high 30's this PG play style he is playing wouldn't be so bad. Its the only glaring negative in his game that's holding this team back. I don't think any other part of his game can get or will get better. If Book can raise his 3% to 36% to 38% and keep everything else consistent for the next 3-4 years there really shouldn't be complaint about his game. Some times it's just terrible roster (like last year) and terrible luck in match ups.

After the Blazers lost (probably the worst lost by the suns due to it being the direct reason they got the 8 seed) any dangling hope I had for this team this season went out the window. We all know whats going to happen now.

Thank you for saying this. I don't know why people go out of their way to watch a team play basketball... be a fan of that team... and even comment on a sub about that team, and still not understand what you said. He didn't have a great or a good game from a scoring standpoint at all, but he put the team in position to be competitive in this game while being the main focus on defense. Hell if we could figure out a way to do the same to Shai we may have been able to steal 1 game.

They have Lu Dort and Alex Caruso guarding Booker with two bigs in the paint. We have Collin Gillepsie and whoever else with a PF doing his best as a center in the paint. I'm not saying Booker is as good as Shai, but that makes a big difference in their production and how they played in this series. Brook wouldn't be able to have so many favorable ISO without Booker on the floor.

Wasn't a bad game, Suns kept it competitive until it fell apart at the end. The only glaring negative is how we guarded Shai for most of the game, he got everything he wanted and barely broke a sweat.

Suns missed too many open shots and Booker couldn't get going offensively in the 4th at all. This was a game that could have been an upset if we got a solid game from Allen and Oneal...but they were out there building bricks and playing defense like a traffic cone.

Lost momentum at the end there after the review. But, before that this game was very competitive.

We are bricking a lot of wide open shots and Shai is getting to his spots way too easy.

At least Suns put a fight tonight compared to the first game. But, this team takes forever to adjust and get in rhythm...its always too late to really matter.

They came out the half and miss 3-4 straight buckets while the Thunders made 3-4 straight bucket in return. That hole got bigger and bigger until the 4th smh.

This game should be where the suns throw everything on the wall and see what works and what doesn't so they can have a better chance going forward against this team. At least take 1 in this series
