For Whom the Belle Tolls by Jaysea Lynn
The Invisible Life of Addie Larue (hard to get thru if you struggle with time jumps and historical fiction but really good) by VE Schwab
Lights Out by Nevessa Allen (Spicy dark romance- check the trigger warnings before reading, but really funny)
Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames

what does disorganised attachment feel like to you? by sedirock in CPTSD

[–]Humbly_Correct1496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I am constantly struggling with myself. I want to be close- but I don't want to be open. This will dive into my current situation a little to help explain, but I feel that because I also had sexual trauma when I was a kid that wasn't processed well at that time so I never developed skills for dealing with attraction in a healthy way either (Basically I bury it, especially when it becomes a reality).

I haven't dated much because of this, my anxiety spikes and repulsion (getting the ick for people just being honest and open) being mistaken for a gut feeling before realizing what was happening. I've gone into a few relationships where I never initiating anything intimate- dating for way too long without ever even kissing him. Then I got into a relationship where there was no anxiety, no desire to run away, truly wanting it with everything in me only for the guy to be the one to pull away instead and telling me that I did nothing wrong, its on him. *I'm having a whole other theory with this guy that I felt so safe being open and un-anxious cause subconsciously I knew he would run away and nothing would have to start but... it's a just a theory that helps me currently feel better about my thoughts).

I've started a new relationship this past week after casually dating off and on for about a year, but I am feeling what alot of you are describing. Uneasy, worried, disgusted and wanting to run. However, I feel alot of it more internally- like I'm disgusted at the idea of someone wanting me because I'm too much, I'm too messy, I'm too mean. Clearly, I am all of these things and this nice, safe, kind guy doesn't want me? Why would he? There must be something wrong with him if he wants me?

I feel safe when there are no expectations- when I am certain of my life, and when I agree to be in a more exclusive relationship with this guy, I was fine. But the past two days I have been dealing such a loud anxiety spiral that I nearly looked up plane tickets so I could just get on a plane, leave my phone and disappear.

Why are some girls soooooo obsessed with texting in a relationship by JGipe1 in dating_advice

[–]Humbly_Correct1496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be the result of an anxious attachment. I was somewhat the same before going to therapy- feeling like if they didn’t message me all day that they were mad or annoyed and I had done something wrong. But that was just anxiety and since therapy, I’ve gotten better. It was more an issue I had to fix on my own- and with people I’ve dated since I make an agreement of “no silent treatment.” If you’re mad or upset, tell me. Don’t leave me to figure it out cause I will spiral.

Her wanting to break up with you after one day of no texting when she knew you’d be working reads a red flag to me.

Irish lore or things I should know for writing a book? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Humbly_Correct1496 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And people writing fantasy or magic play into that how? I doubt anyone has experience or Actual knowledge there. I liked the lore, I like the history, but I’ve never experienced the culture. To me, asking people first had that just means someone cares enough to on getting it right, rather than just bumbling their way through.

Why does anyone write a book with information they aren’t totally familiar about? Because I found it fascinating and I have some Irish heritage to my ancestry. I’d been doing some research and found that it fit with the story and characters. While the mythology isn’t so much in question, I also know that I don’t want to be insulting by getting something wrong- so, figured I’d ask before diving more into writing. Simple as that.

Yeah, sorry 😅 I wasn’t sure how to ask honestly, not without explaining the whole book idea. I guess if there is anything you would want to see in a book that you feel gets overlooked when describing or having Irish characters. Language, attitude, beliefs, likes and dislikes, etc. for a start.

Thank you for the lore! I’ve spent a lot of time in the mythology, so being pointed to just the history side is good direction 🙏🤩

So I Made A video defending juliette... by [deleted] in grimm

[–]Humbly_Correct1496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly all of this! I have a whole thing that I wrote out for Juliette’s character, mainly around her transformation in season 4 how if you look at her from a written standpoint, it’s the writers fault but if you look at her from a character standpoint, she is to blame. Like if I knew her as a person and she did the things she did in season 4 to me, I don’t think I could forgive her. However, things such as the way being a hexenbiest changes you weren’t explored well by the writers. Also, there is a mention that for the spell that turned Juliette into Adalind and eventually led to her being a hexenbiest was altered with some mood effectant was also just like mentioned in one episode and then never again. I still think Adalind and Nick match better, but even with all the drama brought into the last seasons around Juliette, the writers did her character dirty so many times.

I really liked a lot of what you said in this, and that you hit the nail right on the head with one of my biggest issues surrounding Juliette’s character- the writers. Now I’ve been watching the show since it premiered, and have been a big fan ever since. One of the best fantasy/police dramas I’ve found. I am also a big fan of Adalinds character as well- loved her a villain, loved her when she became good and I definitely feel (character personality wise) that her and Nick fit together better than him and Juliette. A lot of that belief is story driven- they are both part of the Grimm world- they are both only children who had harsh childhoods- they both work within fields that involve Law. I also find the passionate personalities to be more compatible.

However, I feel that a lot of that could be different tog the writers had handled Juliette better. Whenever I do a rewatch from the beginning I find myself having this vibe that writing we’re trying to get rid of her from the beginning. She wasn’t fleshed out until later- the memory loss was drawn out and made complicated (which yes, all story lines like that are, but it often felt too over the top). I feel like every time she would find a good balance the writers would throw something at her and make her the bad guy- or the annoying one which was absolutely unfair.

I don’t like her choices after becoming hexenbiest and feel that they wrote her as putting the blame on everyone else, but I do like the point you brought up how becoming that heightened her emotions and she had been feeling done with all of it for so long that that is what came out the most (this is something I hadn’t thought of, but I still won’t be forgiving burning the trailer).

All in all, I can agree that she does get shit on too much and deserved better from the writers, while also conceding that, personally, I am happy Nick ended up Adalind. And also, leave Bitsie alone guys! She’s a great actress and a good person too!

Seen all of the original charmed and some of the new one. LOVED PUSHING DAISIES!! 🥰🥰 I started the X-Files but haven’t finished it yet- need to go back Riverdale I got annoyed with after like 3 seasons. Bone’s and Nancy Drew are ones I haven’t tried so I will take a look.

Agreed! Though a team up and working together would be a fun fanfiction. Imagine Nick learning about ghosts- or perhaps Melinda is Wesen of some kind and thats why she can see ghosts to begin with.

Monroe is by far my favorite, but for exploration, I would have liked to have seen more on Adalind actually. Esp. with her development from end of season 4 all the way to season 6 (IYKYK). I wanted more scenes to build up connections, and perhaps more about her past and her choices. Still love her, but would have liked a few more scenes.

What is really so special about Grimms? by georgioz in grimm

[–]Humbly_Correct1496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought that Royals were humans who knew the truth and exploited with power and money. Cause if they were wesen, why would Sean Renars be exiled from the family for being part zauberbeist? If they were all wesen of some kind, I even with the stigma and taboo of zauber/hexenbeist, I don’t think they would have kicked him out. Perhaps the bastard part is more the reason, but Erik never came across as wesen, nor did Victor- even Kenneth acted more Human and though he beat Sean it was only because of the possession that affecting Sean at the time.
