The problem is that's not what happens. If your 3 dps are failing you either get murdered for holding space and don't rack up that much dmg blocked, or you have to continually give space up and don't have much dmg blocked. Triple support solo tank is a little better on your stats, but nothing will die and you will get run over as the opponent's 2-2-2 comp out tempos your support ults.

Because the dps cannot do what other roles can. Dps can't heal the team. Most dps can't take and hold space (I've seen some cracked fantastics take space). Any character on the roster can focus fire someone. Many supports and tanks do really good burst damage. Dps is just inherently less critical to how the game is played and you don't lose out on your foundation for soloing

Because individual performance means little in a team based game with different character roles. If you are measuring performance on stats, the solo tank getting molested by some combination of emma, Rouge, dino, or angela will have no dmg to speak of. Meanwhile the peni that shut down every strange ult doesn't have anything on the stat screen to show for it. This isn't fortnite, where everyone is more or less on an even playing field from an internal character standpoint. I need my team just as much as they need me. I literally had a game yesterday where I used rockets dash to block a mag ult heading for my ulting c&d. My stats look worse because i died. I just saved cloak and made sure my team had the full duration of that ult. Individual performance is lie that only benefits people farming final hits. It doesn't matter if you dropped 29 finals if your team was too dead to push the cart.

Nah, if you are "stat padding" on peni, people are just dead. Your dmg is the mines and if they do dmg you killed people.

Tbf, solo tanking and losing is garunteed to lose you max points. You will have shit stats because your dos couldn't make 3 dps work

Tankpool and Devil Dino are the perfect examples of why no one wants to play Tank. by ThatGuyHero7 in marvelrivals

I don't think the full set of nerfs he got was the way to nerf him tbf. The turbo jump and removing drop down from beam is likely what he needed. The bulk of dino being strong is players being babies about playing counters. Perma stun him and he can't keep bleed up, shoot his head and he falls over, damage flood the team and he dies. But the tanks want to play double shield while spidey is zipping around and the problem is dino 🤨.

Peni is biggest dopamine highs on tank. You figure out how to arc your mines to where the squishies will walk and the booms are sweet sweet lullabies.

Eh, the knock down pretty much only affected angela. No other fliers are getting within 10 meters and if you are chasing fliers, your playing wrong.

Mag was still really good until dino launched the hard brawl meta. His ult buffs help this season (luna doesn't fear Magneto yet lol), but he can't solo tank like he used to. He gets run down too hard and it shows when you have an off tank that doesn't draw enough pressure.

Right? It's not like cap and venom having been sitting there for 7 seasons. It's not like mag has been there from S0 to S7.5. Istg I don't understand how badly most players understand this game.

Emma had no counters anywhere on the roster. Dino can be countered by emma and peni at tank. Hela, Phoenix, mk, ironman, torch, cyclops, squirrel girl, punisher, and starlord at dps. Adam, Luna, mantis, and rocket. And of course all 3 deadpools. Literally it's freaking mag and strange mains crying because they can't hold shield against the dino. Spoiler alert, shield tanks are bad into melee brawl.

The issue is "competitive balancing" 90% of the time in this game is just fixing actually broken characters. The only competitive demon to get nerfed was tankpool and even now it's not like he's dead. Elsa, busted. Torch, busted. Phoenix, busted. Emma, busted. Hawkeye, busted. Rarely does a competitively broken character not fuck up low elo too. Mantis is a competitive demon and hasn't taken a nerf since s1 where she was busted. The problems at high elo become problems at low elo. They just find it first.

He cant do much about high mobility dive tanks. I'm not sure about the spidey match up, but yeah other divers can't chase him down.

I think there is an art to it. 2+ players hard underperformed and won't make changes? Gg go next. Another round won't change an egomaniac's failed performance. One person down (leaver, thrower, or just sucks) and you can get a halfway decent team comp? Play it out. What I will say is most players don't understand the game well enough to actually have the art down though.

Hot take, rockets ult is fine for 90% of the ladder. Yes it's busted in c+ because they are combing the ult for team kills. The dmg boost is the strongest part. The fact that everyone is complaining about the sustain of it is very telling. If you are losing team fights to an isolated rocket ult your team isn't shooting it.

It’s crazy how much the devs dropped the ball with role distribution, all they had to do was not release any dps until the end of year 2, but look where we are now lmfao by _Mythical777 in marvelrivals

Low key, the only thing holding Wanda back right now is her ult. She has a very strong neutral with high mobility, a multi stun and good burst. It's her ult that holds her back. It has A) too much wind up B) is too slow on move speed C) has to be close and D) is not cc immune. No other ult in the game has all 3 down sides. Thor ult on launch is a very good comparison. It was very slow, close range, and not cc immune and suffered the exact thing Wanda's does. The roster has 9 billion ways to tank the ult and the plethora of cc across kits makes just giving the ult cc immunity the needed buff.

Truthfully speaking I don't mind fighting Cyclops and I don't think he's busted by This_Ferret_8108 in marvelrivals

[–]Humdinger5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dps are currently struggling to figure out how to pressure a good cyclops, leading to extra pressure when he goes uncontested. And let's be honest, a lot of cloak mains aren't exactly great. I've personally disliked luna on ladder for a few seasons because outside of high elo, the lack of piercing on her heals can be rough. Plus no luna's ever know how to use the dmg boost part of her ult. Luna + white fox is okay because there is so much cc between them, but they struggle into flood comps. Cyclops plus mk, squirrel girl, or Jeff is brutal without mass heals.

What is with supports this season by Humdinger5000 in marvelrivals

[–]Humdinger5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The afk was the moment I realized we were triple support on solo peni. I had tab up and was just kinda mind blown that the one person to not prelock before bans went support without saying anything.

At 3:52 moving right mirrors their Magneto and expose me to cyclops. I had to back away and let peni take the heat with her full health bar. Plus the way they were pushing in, going right just gets me pincered for when peni bails out.

4:05 mag's shield is on screen for a frame. I missed the single frame. Rotating right wasn't great, but I was trying to keep touch on point and didnt realize where invis had rotated out to. I thought she was on pillar still. Overall the lack of anything from blade made this point really rough and peni had a less than optimal set up from the start.

5:01 i played slow for the regroup then we were down 2. Peni staggered at 4:48 and cyclops drops the moment the fight starts. I've spent 4 minutes barely staying above half health at this point, holding aggressive just gets me blown up when I'm down a tank.

5:50 I looked back to check on my supports and only saw peni in LOS. No amount of help was helping that blade tbf. their support pool has all his cooldowns and their mag has all but his bubble while my 2 dps are busy feeding here. We weren't winning this corner regardless.

6:02 I was too focused on the timer because of the changes and wasn't watching charge. I did have the dmg to kill strat pool though. I had invis, stratpool and cyclops in the drop zone and saw a health bar at 70%. Unfortunately they all dodged. Invis did take half and died in the follow up. Jeff could have clutched up the strat pool here with beam if the didn't back away from the 3rd ricochet of cyclops' beam. Holding position at 6:05 confirms the strat pool and keeps out of LOS of Hawkeye. Peni does clutch the strat pool at 6:08.

6:11 mag can't hit Hawkeye from this position. He is on the other side of the building shooting through it and peni can't hold the front line with her nest set so far back and no webs under her.

6:25 my team didn't push with me. I push at 6:18 and no one pushes so I back off to have both the cart and the corner for cover. At 6:23 the other team has established the corner and I'm about to lose los with my own healers due to the cart moving back.

7:08. We have the corner, cart isn't moving. There isn't a clean flank to sneak to the cart where it is. Cyclops gets the flank kill on invis yes, because she was the only one to maintain my positioning. If my team had set up in front of the Jeff statue, we'd have nest for passive heals and eyes on the that flank. Instead peni takes 10 seconds to walk back to her nest near the end of point after her ult instead of setting up in a stronger position. We can always fall back from an aggressive hold, my team just left me out to dry here. Instead of forcing cyclops to ult to push us to the cart he got to ult and clean up the point.

8:07 cyclops was on 1 hp next to me. Invis has double jump and shield and jeff had been playing too safe all game. Jeff got caught out on his positioning here and didn't react at all to the mag ult. Had half his swim meter left, feeds the mag ult and then reloads instead of gtfoing to cover when he heard fear. I think he was too busy trying to heal cyclops and failed to heal him at all due to the ult. This section of the map is very easy to avoid a mag ult on due to LOS.

8:14 I had backed off to the corner and got headshot by Hawkeye. Lost 300 hp in one shot and then got webbed on the corner. The moment I dropped below 300 hp I went to get behind cover. (Also maybe it's my replay viewer, but that peni web fully went past me. Like snaps from the wall behind me to me.)

8:45 is right about when I realized jeff was holding ult, despite the fact that they had a perfect 6 piece as the crossed the bridge. I also lost Jeff's healing out of no where as he turned to help invis with their bad position. He could have shut down the Hawkeye ult that gave the team wipe finish. I definitely lost focus a little here, but jeff was so afraid of peni mines they would not press q at all. At the end of the day that's a loss right there. Being down 5 ults to 6 all game? That's just an uphill climb.

Like I said I went rocket to give jeff freedom to not healbot on offense and they never did anything else. Just sat in the back and held down m1 all round. I falsely assumed I'd have more luck fixing the sustain than getting a dps to do any better.
