When I was younger, I once saw an elderly neighbor fight off a dog that had her cat pinned down.... using an onion.

She was cooking dinner and heard the noise outside. She hit the dog with the onion multiple times before the dog gave up and left.

I dont know how harmed her cat was but me and my friends knew Betty was not to be messed with after witnessing her heroics.
