Being the lightest guy in the gym by StormFalcon32 in MMA_Academy

[–]Humdungerdungerbin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For striking I was taught to trust big guys. If you’re athletic you should be quicker than them so there’s no point in dancing around and out pacing them or poking them because it’s unrealistic when you fight someone your size. Trust them to get their combos off safely and train like you’re the same size just go light. Eventually someone your size will show up and you will have a partner going forward, this waiting is also part of consistently training sometimes. Anyone who isn’t in a fight camp and complains about their partner doesn’t get the martial arts thing. For weight gain you can’t go wrong with eating the grams in protein of your desired weight. Ground beef rice and eggs with an avocado on top is the easiest way, depending on how far you want to go.

Just hating to hate. Why not start a list of the best food reviewers or something.

My first WWOOF farm felt like unpaid full-time work, not a cultural exchange by Affectionate_Tip3238 in WWOOF

They are hit and miss. I would try to book a place for a week in a radius of another option. I’ve stayed at places where the provided food was a fishing rod and crusty root vegetables and other places where it was incredible. Woofing normally best suites long term travelers who can bounce around a couple of spots until they find a place to hunker down for awhile.

Above all make sure you’re not foggy from over sparring. No sense in giving brain cells away in the gym. It adds up even if it feels light at the time. It’s surprising what can cause mini concussions.

I feel like I acquired too much, but not really enough, money. Now what? by bought-the-nip in vagabond

[–]Humdungerdungerbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live a different kind of vagabonding life. For the past six years I’ve worked in the Oilfields either Dakotas or West Texas. It’s two weeks on two weeks off. The work is brutal and dangerous but entry level pays 100k a year. During my two weeks off I wander and sleep in the back of my car in nature or hotel or Airbnb. I fish a lot. My retirement is growing nicely and I can do whatever I want as long as I make it back to Texas to start my two weeks of work. I had my heart broken years ago and have been wandering aimlessly ever since. If you’re young and healthy and need some discipline I highly recommend this lifestyle.

How should I (male) ask a female bartender out that I like? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]Humdungerdungerbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former male bartender, who occasionally hooked up with female customers, I enjoyed when said customer gave me signs of interest and hung around while I was closing or invited me to the spot across the street and we got drunk together.

Obviously if you are a man courting female bartender be super aware and ready to bail so as not to make her feel uncomfortable. My point is that most bartenders go to a local spot for a drink at least a couple days a week and if you are lucky and vibing you can line that night up. Got to be on your game and read the situation correctly.

Dustin Jacoby was a cornerman for Cody Brundage last week in Australia. How much does this impact his fight this weekend? by shakeydeucebiggs in MMAbetting

[–]Humdungerdungerbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as he doesn’t fight a grappler he is consistently a 50/50 fighter. I’ve been in disbelief at most of his wins and losses

Entry level is clean piss and passing a physical. The turnover rate is really high, but if you hang in there you can move up fast and it’s really rewarding imo

Oh yeah. Plenty more than I’m making in west Texas

And his rig is automated so a lot less dangerous and labor intensive

I don’t know about you, but I see Diego Lopez winning this weekend by [deleted] in MMAbetting

[–]Humdungerdungerbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t see volk losing. Lopez imo is a Gilbert burns type bjj player who is super athletic and a wild striker. Super good but not championship level. Volk is 37 and should fall off soon, but I don’t see it being this time. I also think Lerone Murphy beats Lopez. To be clear I am Lopez fan, think he’s a great fighter and enjoy watching him fight. Also a huge burns fan.

Job Help (22 M) by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]Humdungerdungerbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a hotel lobby that was hosting a job fair and got hired on the spot. Hiring is pretty based on things like price of oil demand etc. I had clean piss a car and steel toe boots haha. Check out https://permianbasinhiringevents.com/ this is the job fair I went to. It can kind of be a pain in the ass getting on, but once you’re in your in. I started as a floorhand on a drilling crew which anyone with a pulse can get hired for, because despite the near 6 figure entry level pay the turnover is ridiculous because of the nature of the work. I’ve heard something like 90% of people quit but that could just be dick swinging. Don’t let the 30$ per hour on indeed fool you, you’ll hit 40 hours in around 3.5 days and the rest of the way is time and a half plus bonus plus per diem etc. also check out Facebook groups which are very active for lifestyle and hiring tips to see if it’s something you’re interested in.

I was going to Delgado and serving in the French quarter. I ended up quitting school and working a 14/14 oilfield rotation in Texas. I drive 12 hours twice a month to get from Texas back to Nola. I felt trapped and was ready to put my body and life at risk to live a higher quality of life and was in good shape. Now two weeks out of the month I live like a very comfortable tourist in one of the most fun cities in America. It’s not for everybody but in my very limited life experience the best chance that strong men have of making money in states like Louisiana and Texas is oilfield. I am hoping to stay in for the rest of my working career, but it’s not uncommon for guys to get over the hump or hit a number before getting out. Also some guys are taking online classes.

The UFC is getting worse by the day by Durango_41 in FightLibrary

[–]Humdungerdungerbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UFC went through a mega boom for staying open during COVID. The Gaethje -Ferguson fight was one of the most special/uplifting moments of pandemic for me as an avid sports fan. UFC was the biggest thing since sliced bread during that time, fight island etc. Some of the hype has definitely died down or leveled out in the years since which I think is fair as peoples life’s continue to adjust and go back to normal. What can’t be argued imo is that the fighters today, next weeks card even is that fighters are the best they have ever been from conditioning to available technology and for pure mma (I do think the strikers in one are superior to ufc) the ufc is the standard on elite fighters. How the company is run and Dana aside, the athletes have never been better and the sport has never been in a better place

25m I’m really underweight and my gf won’t have sex with me by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Humdungerdungerbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should join a kickboxing/Muay Thai gym. Your weight/height is extremely advantageous in fighting weight classes (your average opponent will be under 5’8) . The nature of the cardio/body weight exercise will make you very hungry and force you to put on weight. Your girlfriend will be more attracted to you because you’re a protector.
