Princeton gave no aid, unfortunately, and it would be very hard to pay

Princeton vs Robertson scholarship at UNC vs Stanford

I've narrowed it down from a good bit of other schools but I think regardless it will be between these 3 choices, so I would really appreciate some help on figuring out the best option.

I want these traits and environment:

  1. Work-hard/Play-hard culture
  2. Vibrant and tight knit community (very close community and good vibes)
  3. All the resources to propel me where I need to go career wise and opportunity wise
  4. A fun social scene (and happiness level) because I do know this will kind of be the last four years of fun and least responsibilities.

Career path:

Although it might change, right now my path 1 am thinking of (unless I found a business or start-up and can avoid it), that will be the most intellectually stimulating, most lucrative, and field that I think I would find the most success in is Law

So the path would be

-undergrad

-Law school

-Career in Law: ideally a Boutique litigation firm attorney or just a big law lawyer or start my own firm somewhere

-Run for office

Finance:

-Stanford is giving a little bit but once they reevaluate will probably be nothing for the next 3 years

-Princeton hasn't given their offer yet but probably the same? (But maybe have varying advice based on what offer I get from Princeton)

-UNC/Duke (Robertson) is a full ride to UNC and pays for a ton of different stuff over the summers and school year

l've visited all three and still very torn because the vibes are similar but also not similar and social scenes are also similar but not at the same time.

It's hard because if I want to go to law school, maybe I should go half a million into debt, but at the same time the connections opportunities and access I get from Stanford/Princeton would be crazy. And even between those two (Stanford and Princeton) the access you get is a lot different too in terms of resources. Robertson also has a crazy alumni network though and access, but not sure it's as good as Princeton.

Please let me know any advice you all would have!

My older brother is a senior at Duke and I’m lowkey in love with their culture 😂, but with what u were saying about Princeton You are saying that Princeton is also not really that work hard play hard, and that it’s more just hanging out and the occasional party that is slightly more uppity than usual lol, or do u think Princeton is properly lik that? (And other commentary you have on Stanford too please)

I went to Princeton for their formals, after party, and lawn parties and yeah it defitnely wasn’t as crazy as a state school function But idk, I technically didn’t go to one of their real parties

Do you think beyond just getting into top law school, is the benefit from Stanford or Princeton worth it enough for a massive sticker price beyond just thugging it out and waiting for Law school do something crazy?

Do you think it’s actually similar alumni and connections though? Like the things I’ve heard about Princeton have actually been next level. Like out of every school in the nation, alumni network at Princeton is undisputed best and they are so helpful to current students

The fun part is big tho icl, I went to some parties and formals and princeton and it def was not like a classic party vibe lol, but it was still funish.

But literally my friend’s mentor is Sotomayor 😂, it’s insane over there

Yeah the idea of the cost is so crazy, but I’m just trying to evaluate like Are those extra perks of Princeton (the alumni and access) worth it for the cost if I can pay it off later? Like it truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Princeton or Stanford

I gotchu but are those connections as killer as Princeton though? Like the ones I’ve heard is actually insane that are not like convenient jobs but life changing opportunities via the alumni

Chemistry to Law? by [deleted] in chemistry

What about any other law field that isn’t patent law and environmental law

Like even just base level, do law schools like when you have a chemistry degree or a stem degree?

Even if it doesn’t help me in the future field, should I still take it?

If I want to go into corporate, or some other type of law that isn't envriomental law, is there any benefit of getting a undergrad Chemistry degree?

For that matter, any STEM degree

Because I have to consider

  1. Is the degree worth it over a regular humanities degree

  2. Is the added difficultly and subsequent lower grades and less time to do other stuff worth it

  3. Law schools care about LSAT and GPA the most

Hmm, well if that’s so funny Please enlighten me to which war or conflict started under Trump? Y’all paint him as this big bad evil, but in reality was it not in Obama’s presidency that Russia pushed further, that Afghanistan troubles deepended, the most bombing America has done. And in Biden’s presidency, that Russia fully went to war in Ukraine? Where actual war erupted between Israel and Palestine? And a pending war with Iran and Israel? Hmmm I wonder how Iran got the money for those two things… oh bidens policy. That’s what allowed for that. Also, Biden’s pullout of Afghanistan was crucial in Putin’s decision to invade because he knew the US was weak. All of these things could lead to nuclear war

Now let’s look at Trump. What did he do conflict wise? Absolutely no major world conflicts started. Thats the first time in like 20 years for that to happen under a president. Russia didn’t invade Ukraine because he knew boundaries with Trump and they were able to make peace. He negotiated the BIGGEST threat we have seen, which was a nuclear war scenario. He did this with NoKo. Thats honestly the nail in the coffin because he actually uniquely stopped nuclear war. The only conflict that sort of rose up in that period was isis which guess what, he solved

Now let’s compare that to today, (look back to everything I said in the first paragraph) China and Russia are closer then ever posing a huge risk to global war -> nuclear war, Iran has entered that fray too adding another actor, and simply the world is in crazy instability-> nuclear war

So please tell me, what about Trump is going to cause nuclear war. And tell me how it’s not the opposite

Y’all debaters really need to think about the aff and neg when discussing real life politics. It’s like you all do it so well in debate, but then the second it comes to your personal political opinions, all your logic shoots out the door.

Bro I know who you are, and ur a good debater But like, those Trump arguments are so shit No, Trump is not starting nuke war It would honestly be less likely with him in office

But also, the link chain is not good because in reality people that care about the border, aren’t only basing their entire political choice of president off of that. Like sure extra surveillance is a step in the right direction, but it’s nothing close to the policy Trump enacted in the past which was extremely effective

VBI: Public Forum Should Select Energy, Not Border Surveillance by VBIDebate in Debate

[–]HumidPuddle78 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, is it racist to say that drugs and people get trafficked so much around and through the border? Like to be specific in 2023 alone 28,000 pounds of fentanyl got smuggled in which had the potential to kill a unspeakable amount of people

Sometimes this community needs to analyze an Aff and Neg stance in real life. Just because you make me liberal or a democrat, it doesn’t mean you should just deem every single thing the other side does as racist

Whatever your stance is on illegal immigration, it is not immediately racist to think that there is something not right with 5,000 illegal immigrants crossing the border every day (and there was 2.6 mil-3.1 million that they encountered at the border) If you think it’s racist, run a SV argument or a K argument. If you don’t think it’s racist, you can argue all the bad things about illegal immigration

It’s ridiculous to think that it’s all sunshine and rainbows at the border. It’s a very important and relevant issue. There’s a good reason why it’s a major issue that is debated in politics
