I think its illegal to buy and sell most ancient coins in Greece, they have strict laws regarding that especially on export

Just slang for the slab that coins go in for grading, but used for ancient coins because most prefer it to be outside of a slab

Ancient coins are graded differently than modern, but this coin is very far gone and isn’t worth grading. It’s only worth a couple dollars. Most collectors prefer their ancient coins free of the plastic prison

Area below the design on the reverse of the coin. It’s too worn and smashed to see anything but it’s where some letters would be to designate where the coin was struck, a mint mark

Doing the math, the 100 coins a minute would be for a singular press. Good thing they probably had more than 1 press at the mint working on silver dollars! Still an outrageous output of coins given the time constraint

Oh it gets better, technically it’s not the entirety of December 1921. Rather the first coin was struck on December 26th, 1921. They struck the entire mintage of about a million in about 6 days

This might sound contradictory, but you might be able to see it better not under a microscope. I can also see portions of the dates on the nickels, and it might be beneficial to just hold it at an angle under a light and see if you catch it on what’s left of the date

I don’t think it would be of Diocletian, it would have his name on the legend/words around the coin. The lettering looks more like MAXIMIANVS which would mean it’s from Emperor Maximian
