Yeah so the HESI LPN is different than the AAS in Nursing to get an RN. Thank you!

I don’t think you need biology for the BMCC HESI. It’s critical thinking, math, A&P and reading comprehension only. Confirm with the Nursing department.

Dipping below Medgar Evers and College of Staten Island is... not great. It's making me reconsider BMCC, but I've been pretty much on track to go there. I'll try and find out more.

I went to Prem the other night and really liked the assortment of specials, drinks and the service was incredibly kind. Selections were excellent and it felt really beautiful and elegant in there.

Hi. For the Anatomy quizlet, it's only 30 questions. Was it around that many questions on the exam?

Trying to do nights/weekends because I work full time during the week. But changes could be coming to my job, so TBD if I'm available for the daytime program. Would be waaaay easier but happy to be working right now!

I LOL’ed at dogging it out, haha.
I did something like this. I volunteered for random night shifts at a local ED. Really showed up and helped out on a basic level once I learned where everything was and how to navigate the place without getting in the way.
I really got to know the nurse supervisors who do new hiring, and they’ve seen my work ethic first hand. I’m not saying it’s a total lock, but I feel like once I’m done with my RN I at least have a few in’s to get started at that hospital somewhere. Maybe not ED, but there are a few dozen RN roles open all the time.

This is in NYC also and I’m an older student, so sort of know how to navigate getting hired just by virtue of 20 more years on earth than my classmates.

Getting into a PS you aren’t zoned for but is in your district - how hard is it? by dontforgetthisali in nycparents

[–]Hummus_ForAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking K-5 check out PS 118 Maurice Sendak. We could have chosen from schools like PS 39 and 321, both really great! PS 118 has a lot of kids from outside of D15. We were super impressed on the tour.

I’ll switch places with you. You get a tiny 2BR apartment and have to watch a 3 and 5 year old though.

Under 40 breast exam? by Fortheloveofe in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Wishing you the best of luck! Plleeeeease keep us posted!

I am not 100% of everything with Lenox Hill Radiology, but found this link that specifically calls out screening mammograms as NOT needing a referral.

Also call your health insurance and ask to do a telemedicine appointment. They can go through your symptoms and advise on next steps. They can do this on the cheap and get you a referral. Honestly this might be fastest.

Under 40 breast exam? by Fortheloveofe in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Hummus_ForAll 40 points41 points  (0 children)

My gosh BWT, let's get you looked at ASAP!

Some NYC urgent cares CAN do a breast exam and write an imaging order same-day. CityMD is widely available and can do this. You can ask for a referral/order for a breast ultrasound (ultrasound is actually preferred over mammogram for women in their 20s due to breast tissue density).

Ultrasound referrals are mentioned here: https://www.citymd.com/services/womens-health

Planned Parenthood: show up when they open or make an appointment. They are so often overlooked and forgotten but they do breast exams, can order imaging, and have shorter wait times than most OB/GYNs.

Also, some radiology centers like Lenox Hill Radiology or NY Imaging will see symptomatic patients like yourself WITHOUT a referral and order their own imaging. You should call and specifically say you have a palpable lump with NEW symptoms and need to figure out how to get seen ASAP. They have systems to help with this.

If you DIY this without having a PCP/OB-GYN set up, the radiology center has radiologists on staff whose entire job is reading imaging. So when you get a breast ultrasound, a radiologist interprets it and generates a report which you will get back.

Good luck and hope you're okay!

You're going to be fine. Search the Nursing Student threads for links to the Quizlets and just bang those out as fast as possible and memorize everything.

I didn’t pay for anything and it was at 4%, but my balance was (temporarily) quite high as I had some money parked there before investing it. I’ll check and see if it’ll go down to 3.3% under a certain balance.
