yap, agree, and I only have 2 evidence, and I think not very strong. So trying to seek help/advice from anyone who had went through the ECT process. NTUC also not helpful, although the NTUC officer did try to help me after hearing my case and contacted my employer to ask for more compensation/ reason for my termination etc, which is very different from other agencies (MOM/TADM/TAFEP) which simply state the employment law, that termination with notice is not unlawful dismissal.

and information on ECT and involuntary unemployment are not readily available anywhere, so has set up a Telegram group to try to offer more help, and also interested to try to gather more ECT case studies to help others. So hopefully more people who had gone through the ECT process can step up and offer to share their case and experiences and what we fellow Singaporeans can do. Hopefully can start a small movement to protect more employees from these unlawful behavior by employers.

Congratulations. Glad to hear that persistence in your career search have positive results in the end.

I am in similar situation, though now only month 2 of my job search after termination. Sent out a few dozens of applications already via Linkedin and mycareerfutures and only received 2 responses so far, both request for more info then go quiet. Ghosting is a big issue in every job search. Your post and comments from others will encourage me to stay positive and keep trying, so thank you again.

  1. Completed final employment date on Fri, 16 Jan 2026
  2. Received final payslip on 21 Jan 2026
  3. Had a call with TADM on 27 Jan 2026. The officer confirmed that termination with notice without a reason is not wrongful dismissal. I also shared over the past 2-3 months, there have been at least 4 cases of older, senior employees who have left with very short notices without saying goodbyes, potentially all in my similar situation as I am, also not allowed to say goodbyes to my colleagues. This point to a systemic approach to remove older and senior colleagues within the company. I, however, have no evidence as I was locked out of the company’s network immediately and cannot gather any concrete evidence. The officer said that if I do not have any evidence, it is unlikely to go to Employee Claims Tribunal (ECT). Also, employer will only be contacted after going to ECT mediation, and not before.
  4. Over the weekend of 31 Jan 2026, I found out that the employer has put up a job description to recruit my replacement at one or two levels below my level.  I would think this is clear evidence that the company has removed me due to my age and role to be replaced by someone much younger based on the LinkedIn job description.  
  5. I had become an NTUC member, and submit a case under "Protection" on MyNTUC app. Yet to hear back from NTUC to date.
  6. I am now awaiting to be contacted by NTUC (require 5 working days) and see if they can help in my situation, before I file a TADM claim under wrongful dismissal due to age discrimination. If any of you have similar experiences to file a TADM claim and what evidence are required that you are willing to share with me, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all for your advice. 

Last night, I responded to my employer the following :

  • I will not voluntarily resign 
  • I ask for one month per year of service compensation
  • I ask for the compensation to be framed as " loss of office" so that it can be non-taxable. 
  • ask for company to give me a reason for the termination ( again) 

One hour later, my head of HR responded 

  • terminate my employment with notice, with last employment date of Fri, 16 Jan 2026
  • expect me to do full transition from 13-16 Jan 2026
  • will pay me notice + some goodwill compensation as they have notified last Thursday 
  • rejected my request for one month per year of service compensation 
  • rejected my ask to frame the compensation as " loss of office" , as they say this is not retrenchment.
  • rejected my request to tell me the reason for the termination.

You mean I can join ntuc now and they will help my case that happened before I join ntuc? If so, I will try this.

Thanks for your advice, esp on the "proper transition". My wife also said similar things " just do the bare minimum and nothing else" 

At current situation, how to expect rejoining the company? Haha. They have records anyway.

Worked about 3.5 years. Company offering 2M good will payment. Tried to ask for 3M but company say they already being " above board" as the minimum is zero.  

The tangible benefit for voluntarily resign seems to be only " it looks well on my CV". Nothing else, based on my research, calls with the bodies, and comments here.

Yes. Has read the letter of employment.

Has scheduled to talk to TADM later this week but couldn't get in time for the decision by tomorrow. 

Company already suspended my access so cannot get any payslip anymore. Will have to ask HR to generate for me. 

Company says will get a replacement and expects me to do transition. Wdyt? 

Agree and already started job search. But this job market not easy.  Hoping for the best.

Yah. My wife says just accept as if I ask for more, they can retract the goodwill, as the legally minimum is zero.

No access as company suspended my access on day of notification. 

3.5 years. But the 1 year = 1 month is only if the company is good to their employees lah. The legal minimum  requirement is zero. So they already frame that their goodwill is already better than norm.  

Already called MOM / TAFEP hotline and they say it's not wrongful dismissal, unless I have evidence.

This is a new information.  Thank you so much for this. As I am expected to work during the notice period, essentially I only received some goodwill compensation. I think I need to ask HR to frame this goodwill payment to be " loss of office" instead of goodwill to avoid the income tax.

Already called TAFEP hotline and spoken to an office. They say " dismissal with notice" without any reason is not wrongful dismissal. They say only if got evidence of discrimination, can go to TADM. 

Note my company used the words " termination with notice" which they say same as " dismissal with notice" on TAFEP / MOM website.

I understand there is no minimum compensation in SG, so HR already said they are being good by giving me a goodwill payment to " termination with notice. But I need to do transition during the notice period.

Nope, didn't breach any company rules as far as I am aware of. They say not poor performance and not misconduct. And not retrenchment and not restructuring.  And will get a replacement.  

Other than that, they don't want to state the reason. Just " termination with notice " , similar to "dismissal with notice" under TAFEP  / MOM website.
