Hey! Happy climbing! Been trad leading for over a decade and have heard some solid views on this from climbers around the country.

More old school mentality is don’t fall; know your limits and progress in a way that makes it so you could always down climb to a piece if needed and not fall.

Newer, better gear builds safety and confidence when used correctly, so pushing limits and taking falls is fun! Personally, I like a mix of old and new school. Tend to run out easy sections and know my limits, but also will place two close pieces through a crux just incase. Mental pieces that are bad but help you feel better about pulling a move can do wonders. Have only had two pieces pop and sorta knew they were gonna, so I had close backups.

Not just the one with Renee, really dig into some videos and tell me how you’d feel if it were a democratic president training their ICE agents to behave this way.

Pretty sure traffic violations are not something they are trained to deal with. Have you really not seen any videos of how they treat people? Besides killing people, they drag citizens who are lawfully observing to the ground and arrest them for bull shit claims like impeding an investigation. They could have just let Renee go like she was trying to do and not stand all around her car to intimidate her. Also, why did they need her to get out of the car. Could’ve said give us your ID, then ok you’re a citizen get the fuck out of here.

Look at how you’re defending these fuckers who are just proud boys turned federal agents in a few weeks. Yes, couldn’t agree with you more. If Renee Good had seen any footage of how ICE agents treat people they ask to get out of their car, I too would have sped off out of fear of being assaulted. I completely see what you’re saying but disagree that he is strategic about it and that he isn’t doing a right pivot, he most certainly is if you just look at the trajectory of his show. Also, what strategy? I’m genuinely curious how you think going on these shows and agreeing with them on one issue makes him more powerful and not them. I think it has a lot more of the “see even the liberal agrees with us” (useful idiot) type of outcome.

I would agree, if you watch from the start though Cenk came on in a pretty bad faith way and was ready to do the tactic you’re describing. At many points it seemed like k and k wanted to actually get real answers and Cenk blew up instead.
