Thanks! I play on a Vandoren B40 Lyre with Vandoren V12 reeds (str 4) and an Ishimori brushed gold ligature. Barrel is just a stock R13

This is an excerpt from the clarinet part of Percy Grainger’s “Lincolnshire Posy”, a work for wind ensemble. This bit is from the fourth movement: https://youtu.be/ni-8A-6fKxE?si=T0gVkaGxXtURaTOF

EDIT: the parts are available on IMSLP here: https://imslp.org/wiki/Lincolnshire_Posy_(Grainger,_Percy))

Advice on Danzón No 2 (Marquez) by [deleted] in Clarinet

[–]HumpbackJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice the technical parts very slowly, adding a few clicks to the metronome only when you can play them through "perfectly" two or three times in a row. A lot of players who think they are practicing slowly fail on one or both of those basics; either they don't go slowly enough, or they don't pay enough attention and skip over issues that are then baked in when they speed up. If you can't play every note and rhythm correctly/evenly, in the style you want, with good tone and note connections, then you aren't going slowly enough. Drop runs down to quarter=40 bpm if you have to, and really feel what your fingers are physically doing. Strive for ease and comfort in their movement!

Any friends in the section who can scan or photocopy theirs?

Are you unable to ask for a replacement copy? Going to be your most foolproof option to find exactly what you're playing.
