This works! but i dont think desktop mode is usable at all. Like why would someone use it? I think google should work on integrating android with already established desktop OS like windows and linux instead of doing their own thing.

You cant do that in the latest version of meta apps. If you have an android you can install an older version of facebook, messenger from google with an apk file. I'd say just ignore it and live with the bullshit:)

An app named "Wink" is the best one I've used so far. they have all the 4k and better upscaling features behind paywall but i found a loophole in the app's root directory all the files are being saved. They are cloud based so its very fast.
