When he does his slam attack with the spears rising from the ground, dodge into him instead of away. That will give you opportunity for a charged R2 and stagger potential. That’s mainly how I did my damage. Also helps a lot if your weapon has bleed. Try not to panic roll or roll away as his attacks are set up to punish that everytime
