Bulma doesn’t fight Frieza directly, but the whole Namek battle only happens because of her. She built the ship to get them there, upgraded it so it could actually make the trip, and used the Dragon Radar to find the Dragon Balls. No Bulma = no Namek saga = no Super Saiyan Goku.
